Anyone who has had a dui

so i got one about three months ago, and i have court tuesday.

but i blew a .07 wich if i was 21 would be fine but im 17  and they threw my ass in jail

and i was wondering if anyone has had something similar and their charges got dropped?

all i can do at this point is pray i dont get fucked by the rusty pole that is the united states judicial system

I have two friends who have gotten them them

A) got a .01 or .02 which is able to get around due to mouthwash but his was taken by blood so it couldn't have been that but the way the law reads its vague. Total BS because he was sideswiped but an old man then went to the hospital where he got blamed because he was "drunk"

no usefull advice from him

B) blew a .15 (.16 is a felony) he was leaving a party which got the cops called becuase he was beating the shit out of a kid (I thought this kid was going to die that night) he got caught with 3 30 bricks too. and he was on probation for a 45,000 dollar vandialism conviction. So hes basically going away for a while, sucks.

i got pulled over in my driveway last week drunk as shit,   the cop let me off since i was already at my hous??????   i wanted to jump out of my car and bear hug the mutherfucker!!

i got a physical control charge about six weeks ago when i was sitting in my car on the side of the road.  blew a .13.  i'm paying 4k out of pocket for a really good lawyer so hopefully he can work some magic because this shit fucking sucks.  i have an omnibus hearing in about a month, so we'll see what happens i guess....g/l with your shit  zero tolerance laws are gay

That is just ridiculous. I understand that it is just retarded to do and I think the laws are fine as is. They're pretty harsh for drinking & driving. I know people who do it I personally would never. Hopefully you'll get some help.

shes right.

i now have my full license and it allows us to have a blood level of .08 before we can actually be considered drunk driving, but i would never come anywhere near that. i had about two drinks, felt them, waited about 3 hours, then went home. no ones life is worth the risk of drunk driving, your own or someone elses.

I've seen so many people in my life get DUI's and at this point I just have no tolerance for it. I firmly believe it is the stupidest decision you can possibly make, and often times the consequences can be horrible, i.e. hurting yourself or somebody else.

Please...especially to all of you younger kids on here that are just starting to drive, please please think before you do that and don't do it. It will never ever be worth it.

Well since you are a minor, the legal limit for you is obviously .00

Charges won't get dropped, maybe just changed around a bit so you can do something useful for the community.

Bullshit on drinking and driving is gay. I have drank and driven hundreds of times and have never once gotten anywhere close to being in an accident. You just have to be aware that you are drunk and drive carefully and slowly. Drinking doesn't cause accidents being a dumb fuck causes accidents.  .08 is way way to low for a DUI that is maybe 2 or 3 beers, I never anywhere close to drunk after 2 or 3 beers.

I've even been pulled over drunk as shit once for turning left at a stop light at 3 in the morning that wouldn't fucking turn green, and once for not coming to a complete stop sign at a stop sign near my house. Both times I was hammered and both times the cops couldn't even tell I was drunk, like they didn't even ask.

So fuck you haters drink and driving is more than fine as long as your not a dumb shit who speeds and drive recklessly when they're drunk.

my ex got a dui when he was 17, he blew a low number, a .0-something, he still had to pay all kinds of fines, $3,000 i think, and he lost his license for 90 days.

To an extent I agree here, I know I can drink a certain amount and drive just fine, I don't do it because of how illegal it is and since I live in a city I feel more sketch about it. People who drink and recklessly drive are stupid, this thread creator, not stupid in the sense of drinking and driving, but stupid in the sense he broke such a gnarly law. To be fair, .07 isn't aa dui, but since he's under 21, which I guarantee he knows is an auto dui for under 21 in most states, he gets a dui. I honestly think that law is ridiculous but whatever, so is prohibited weed and a drinking age of 21.

actually true.

they are violations of possession/consumption laws, not driving responsibilities.  they imply that anyone younger than 21 is more susceptible to being "under the influence" since the limit is anything that reads on a breathalyzer.  do you understand how arbitrary and retarded this is?

one half of my entire family was almost wiped out by a single drunk driver, they were driving separately in TWO vehicles one right behind the other, and he did major damage to both. now of course his BAC was insanely high and there were other factors but still anything can happen.

i will admit i've driven home after drinking a beer or two and realized when i got home how fucked i would have been if i got pulled over...so why take the chance? just sober up...it's not that difficult.

i was almost killed by a drunk driver, literally one of the closest to death experiences i have ever had. i have no respect for those who drive drunk. get a cab or have someone drive you home.

This happened to my roomate when he was 18.  he went out partying, stayed the night, woke up the next noring to drive home, got pulled over and blew a .02.  He lost his license for 2 years and his parents took away his car.  He couldnt afford a car himself untill he was out of school at 22.

well...thats just it though, for a .05, you wouldn't even get a dui, let alone lose your license.

i don't think you should lose your license for life, but they should be a little less tolerant of it.

and to those who think they can drive drunk just fine...remember...the most dangerous drunk driver is the one who thinks they can drive just as well when they are drunk. All i can say is that, if you ever get into an accident while drunk driving, i hope you are the one who gets killed or injured and not some poor bastard who's just out driving somewhere.

But they won't because when you're drunk your reaction time slows and your muscles relax.  So when a drunk person gets into a crash, they just kind of flop around and take the blows.  When a sober person gets into a crash, they tense up right before the crash as reflex and as a result, gets much more seriously injured.  That's why in drunk driving accidents everybody dies except the drunk driver.  Unfair, but true.

Hokay! All right, basically, you are going to get fucked.  Your charges are not going to get dropped.  You'll lose your license, get mad fines, and some forced AA, and some DUI classes.  UNLESS you get a lawyer.  Unfortunately, in America, with a good lawyer you can get off about anything, and without one, well, you can't.  At all.  I can tell you since you blew a .07, with a good lawyer, you could likely get the charges dropped to wet and reckless, which isn't as bad as DUI, isn't a felony.  You lost your license already though because thats a seperate case with the DMV and you have to request a hearing for that within 10 days of arrest.  But yeah Lawyer > Public defendant.  MUCH greater.

dude not every place has a bus system.  where i live if i didnt have a car there is no possible way i could make it to work and make money so my parents dont have to give me any. so they invested a few thousand dollars in a car so i can go to work and make my own money and be responsible for my self and my own spending and earning habbits.  not every person whos parents help them out a little bit are babied sometimes they are just trying to help their kids out and make the best for them.

I'ma have to agree with you, and the people arguing against you here.

For everyone else saying drinking and driving is retarded regardless, he blew a .07. That's .01 BELOW the legal limit. The only thing deciding whether that is illegal or not, is a number printed on his license.

But to you, why not wait another hour before you left? Even if you don't feel drunk, there are still a few mild things that you don't even notice are slightly off. And if you were 21+, you can still get a DUAI, which is between .02 and .08 or something. It happened to my friend and he lost his license for 30 days or something.

nothing is gonna get reduced or dropped. Most courts enjoy making an example out of underage drunk drivers even though you werent drunk. Youll probably be fined or community service, have to attend AA and DUI classes, and have your license revoked for 60-120 days

I'm not saying that drinking and driving is a good thing, what I'm saying is in most cases it isn't the fact that a driver is drunk that causes the accident, it's the fact that they are driving terribly. Trust me I have driven drunk to many times to count for the last 8 years and I have never once had any problems. You know why? Because when I'm drunk I recognize the fact that I am and take extra precautions like driving on less traveled roads, not exceeding certain speeds, and not listing to music or engaging in other distractions like my cell phone or talking to friends while I'm driving. The dangerous thing about drinking and driving is when you get fucked up and hop in you hummer/mustang and then fucking gun it and drive like you're indestructible. I can say with a clear conscience that I have never endangered anyone while drinking and driving.

I know that people are killed by drunk drivers daily, but that doesn't mean that everyone that drives drunk is the devil, it just means there are a lot of stupid fucks out there who get loaded and drive like shit.

I hope something terrible happens to you. Seriously. I hope you wrap your car around a tree tonight. Or better yet, I hope someone close to you gets killed by a drunk driver. That's exactly how I feel. I've seen too many mangled up bodies and dead children caused by drunk drivers to have ANY sympathy for a drunk driver. Fuck you, you piece of shit.

For the rest of you trying to justify drunk driving, you need a hell of a wake-up call. I know most of you are ignorant teenagers, but it's so fucking dumb. Yes, I realize there's a difference between having a beer with your meal and driving, and getting in a car when you're seeing double. I know you kids think it's gay that there's drinking and driving laws, but they're there for a reason. You 16,17, and 18 year olds can barely drive safe when you're sober. Adding just a bit of impairment is like throwing gasoline on a fire. Wake up, act and think like the adults that you're becoming, take some responsibility for yourselves, and for once, make a good decision.
