So I do understand that there is a Regionals thread but I know it s not used much.

So what I am asking is , is Hailey/Sun Valley a sweet place to live?  Are there girls there?  I live in po-dink atello  ID now and want to get out of here and my company asked me if I wanted to maybe move out there.  Has anyone been there or lived there?

I live in Pocatello and if you were an all around skier you would appreciate Pocatello so much more. Sun Valley is stuck up rich people, groomers, half assed park, and some good bowls.

Yeah it's real expensive. but a pretty cool place to live. probably better than pocatello

Sun Valley has some amazing backcountry in the surrounding area. Mother nature did some intense brush clearing with a forest fire a few years ago.

If you want to move somewhere that is knew check out colorado tons of great place to live and ride there. Telluride, Steamboat, Keystone, Breck, Snowmass...... Just a few of them..

Sun Valley is cool great back country riding and a fun town but like some have mentioned it is expensive to live there.

Yo man I'm from sun valley Idaho so don't let these half assed opinions throw you off. If your looking for park its not really the mountain to go to, but once you get to know the place the mountain is a huge fucking playground. There are all sorts of jibs and jumps on that mountain, you just need to go explore a bit. They might not have a huge annual snow fall but the powder there is super soft and blower when it comes. Lots of places to explore, a couple shacks to irie yourself up in and just a great overall mountain. Plus the back country around here is nuts! So many fucking options but you just need to be commited to all the effort that comes into back country. If you go up north you'll get to galena and thats pretty much where you go build money booters. There are road gaps if you really want to get at it or just super mellow jumps spots.
Also, back to powder, the burnt trees on the back of the ski hill are epic! A storm will pass and a 2 weeks later you are still making freshies.

The valley is a small town so there are not a ton of local girls, but if you want to get after it they are there. Plus we get lots of tourists so thats good opportunity right there.

Sun Valley's backcountry is SICK!!!
Several nice areas that go right back to the lifts.
And I was running into my own tracks lots of the time.

Yeah, SV is over hyped.  It's a retirement community for rich old dudes.  The young people there tend to be children or most likely grandchildren of the rich old dudes.  The 8 a.m. crowd that is first on the lifts looks like a Geritol advert.  It attracts a lot of cling ons who like skiing but like to rub elbows with rich old dudes even more.  When you look around and see gated communities, these are not several unrelated families living in a nice gated community, these are software moguls, actors and movie producers who own SEVERAL homes in one little clump; that's the kind of money there.  Hailey is affordable if your Dad is a world famous surgeon and you live on a trust fund. Think Aspen.
