When the edges start to go......

I have some Rossi Scratch FS WRS's and I loved them last season. However, the edge on one of the skis is getting messed up. It is cracked directly underfoot and it is starting to leave the ski. Now it is like half a cm from it's normal position.

Is this damage fixable or is the ski doomed for the edge to pop off? Would it be worth taking to a shop, or could I do something myself?

i would take it to a shop to ask the question with the ski in person

I have also wondered about this sort of thing in the past. Is there something that can be doen to stop the edges seperating from the ski?

a shop might be able to patch them up for a bit, id just buy some new skis.

on3p is having a sale right now, so for a little more than intense shop labor you could have brand new skis.

doomed.    you can still rock those skis for a while though before the edge will rip out.

You can fix it but don't even bother. You'll pay at least $50 to get it fixed and after a couple days on rails it will be just where you left it. It's going to fall out no matter what you do.

i would just rip it out, unless u plan on doing some mad ice skiing and need it.

im hitting my summer setup for the next few days and i have literally the exact same problem, do you just pull the entire edge out? and leave it? does that affect you at all on rails?

on a summer setup you could have some 210 salomon and be fine......fuck summer and 100+ temps ........im ready for 13 degree days and  a ton ah that white blower! im drunk why doesnt anyone live in yakima?

aight so here's what you gotta do.
you need to cut the edge in a place that hasn't already started to come out. polly like an inch from the visible bend that you can see. then remove the cut piece. go to the local hardware store and get some epoxy. then epoxy the shit outta the gap. make sure u get inside of the missing edge piece. then let that shit dry. (oh smell the epoxy. it smells like caramel). once the epoxy is hard (this will take awhile. like 2 days to a week. take a blade and scrape off the part that is on the base.
this is how i fixed my skis. and they work fine.
don't worry about carving or anything cuz if the edge is underfoot it rarely is used for carving.
