Hellbents Vs Obsethed...

i only care about how they do in powder... ill be getting a park ski too. my dad dosent want me to get the hellbents for some reason... o.O... ive heard the hellbents are the best pow ski ever. how are this years obsethed?

the obsethed are gonna be lighter which will definitely help in park cuz thats the one down side of bents in the park plus they will be better all around. idk not many people have seths cuz they all go for the big bents

my bro has seth vicious (older model of obsetheds)

they are the one with the lime green and hot pink bottom.

he likes them except for the fact when hes going down a groomer at mach 5 they chatter like a bitch...sorry i cant help you out with park/pow performance

I tried out the 08/09s about a year apart in very different conditions. 179cm Hellbents were way more fun in pow and crud than 169cm Obsetheds in crud and groomers.

Yeah that isn't helpful at all.

Bents are not supposed to be the best pow ski ever, there are soo many that most people like more.  Your dad may be like mine, who believes that pow skis are a trend you are buying into haha.  I will have to make him demo some S7s or something next year.  And HBs will be better in pow than Obsetheds, because they were made more for pow.  Still though, what exactly are you doing in pow with them?(charging cliff filled faces, low angle jibbing, etc.) because we can maby make suggestions to other skis better in pow than them(for similar or cheaper price).

yeah thats one.  Still we need to know how he skis.  If he is not skiing switch and is charging a bit, just looking at On3p's line he should get Great Scotts over Caylors

true, the only ski that I would ever consider replacing my hellbents, i can't decide what I like more. You should for sure get some caylors.

U wanna ski like Seth? charge incredibly hard? go 20ft bigger than everybody else and do a frontflip? Get Seths. Or u wanna ski like Mahre and Pep? BC booters, zero spins, switch cork 5s, ect? Get Bents

Seth often skied on Bents with the Obsethed graphic on them, look at the rocker in some shots and how wide they are to tell which.  Believing what you said is what companys want you to haha.  Pretty sure that Seth, Andy and Pep would happily be on any ski in that catagory for the right amount of money =) .  Since we all know seth could do it on rear-entry boots and some K2 Juvys if need be.

obsethed is going to be better for all around. not so heavy unlike the bents and not a huge amount of rocker so you'll have more edge.

if you want to have just a pow ski for 3+ inches then i'd say get the bents. they're really fun all over too but if you want a ski for everything then get the obsethed.

Its pretty much been covered in this thread already but if you want to charge and have better all mountain performance get Seths. If you want slower more playful powder specific skis get Hellbents.

Also consider what style of skiing you are going to use them for when mounting them. I remounted my Bents twice last year and reccoment going core centre (which is actually in front of K2s centre mark) to eliminate some of the wheelie problems you get from the rocker. Also if you get Bents you might as well learn switch pow right!?

Both are dope skis.

not at all, mine are a foot at least over my head.

they look huge when you hold them, but when you ride them they look small and there easy. you would be fine

i have last years obsethed and they are the same as this years, deminsions, weight everything.

i couldnt be happier with this ski, great in powder, steeps, crud, and i throw them in the park, i love them GET SETHS

Yep.
IMO, the hellbent is a very overrated ski, and just bounces around in crud cause it's too soft. the only thing it's good for is bottomless pow/fucking around.

and if you buy caylors, save $300, and you get a better ski. you support a small company based out of portland, oregon. not some large corporation that makes their skis in asia.

the caylors are basically one of the best pow skis out there.

the seths never had rocker till the 08' 09' season, my friend has a pair of the 07' 08' seths in his basement and they dont have rocker! (im like 95% sure)

07/08 seths HAVE NO ROCKER
08/09 obsethed HAVE ROCKER

i have a pair of 07/08's in my hands and they have zero rocker.

edit:the seths are reverse camber but when you stand on them the tips have like 2mm of early rise.. i guess you could call that mini rocker? hardly.

100% correct

Seth viciuos normal camber. No rocker

Obsethed normal camber underfoot. 10/20 rocker in the tip and tail.

I've been skiing on the Seths and hellbents for 2 years now. I like the "obsethed" because its 135 in the nose compared to the 125 so it floats better in powder. I had a blast skiing them at snow bird for a couple of epic powder days and they were awsom. They work better for an all around ski. The hell bents are pretty sick as well, they carve just fine on groomers and you can charge it a bit harder in powder. The only time I was wishing for hell bents was at baker, cause my seths struggled to stay on top of the 5 feet of pow.

i bought the obsetheds last winter and i dont know that i have ever loved a ski more, its awesome on groomers and in the pow i mounted mine at +3 k2s all mountain recomendation and they charge everywhere get them, also talk to tripplesixty he skies both the bents and obsetheds

I have 179 Obsethed mounted +6cm and have skied at least 50 days on them. I love them as an all-mountain ski. Even with the +6cm mount they only nose dive when it gets really deep. I am 5'11" and 150lbs.

They soften up alot once they're broken in, mine have lasted well with no core shots or edge cracks just minimal topsheet wear.

I may still get another ski for super deep days (arg,JJ, Ep pro) but this is more of a luxury that I can choose to give up.


I orignallly had mine mounted at +4.5 and prefer the +6cm mount in the park, they did no doubt charge harder further back but I prefer the jibby feel of the forward mount.

Dude, if you want a pow specific ski, do not get Obsetheds. You should probably look into ON3P, Moment, and other such brands before you just jump on the HB band wagon.
