Does age REALLY matter?

No 25 year old that can do a few sketchy 7's and spin a ltille bit onto a box will get sponsord, so why would a 12 year old. Stop telling these sketchy young kids to get sponsord, when they are older AND good enough they most likley will.

If Shawn Petit and Tanner hall were in a contest, would one get judjed better because of his age? NO! so why should sponsership?


Oh and by the way, im not arguing that this kid isnt good, he absolutely kills it for his age.

age doesnt matter in my opinion because they could be older or younger than they look. the rail game is not really existant and his spins over 360 have lots of flailing and look sketchy. a shop might sponsor him so that he can keep working on everything but a ski or clothing company wont. if you think about it, the trick are really pretty basic; backflip, frontflip, straight spins, and a few corked... its all nothing special.

ya but you should think about potential. not saying this kid should be sponsored but wouldnt you think that he has a better chance of making a name for himself than a 25 yea old with the same skills? chances are by the time hes 25 he will be much better. obviously from a comp point of view it doesnt matter but arnt we talking sponsorship

yes we are talking about a sponsorship here. but, i feel that his style is really lacking substance. anyone that age could throw themselves around like that, it just takes guts. when he gets older and develops a good style that will get others stoked to watch him ride and possibly look at what skis or outerwear he uses in comparison to your own... thats when he should get sponsored.

no he shouldnt, mabey he has potential.

check out willi borm's promo, same song, 100x better skiing, and the fact that he is a loveable kid, having a good personality is a big thing in being sponosored not just your skiing, your selling a company image and being personable means way more to the groms you meet than the skiing you did. IE Jib academy, mabey not the best skiing getting thrown down at each stop but the riders that come are the nicest ive met, except for dumont...he showed up with a massive hangover, horrible image for the kids

I don't think any of you understand the point of a sponsor. Companies should sponsor this kid because he will draw attention to their product. Look at all of you already bitching about him. Its not about how good or bad someone is, its about their marketability, young kids ripping it up are more marketable than the run of the mill pro doing better tricks.

uhhhhh son its called prodigy... if a kids good now, how good will he be when hes 16... jeees its just obvious, why does any kid get sponsored!?
if you theory is so correct, sean and kye shouldnt of got sponsored and supported when they were groms coz they wernt throwing down harder than 25 year olds who could do the same shit! i wonder where those kids would be now?

No, it's about being able to market yourself and be an awesome skier.  Sure, everyone loves groms that rip, so he will attract attention but the truth is that this kid is not a good enough to get any more than a small shop sponsorship. Also, the older you are the easier you can show off your sponsor.  You can travel more, film yourself more, and communicate better with people that are interested in your sponsor.  That is the point of a sponsor.

Im not doubting that he will be god, in 5 or 110 years this kids going to KILL it.

But that doesnt mean he should get spancerized now, when he is able to do the tricks spancerd people can do, he will get sponsord, but weather or not his age right now, no ones goign to get sponserd to sketchy huck them self off shit, when they get better then they will gain MORE sponsers, and in this case, sponsers.

And yeah sean got sponcerd young because he was GOOD. he didnt look like a sketchy 12 year old hucking himself of shit. He was GOOD enough to be sponcerd, this kid really isnt.
