Powder/ all mountain ski suggestions.

so basically, I need a pair of powder skis due to the fact that i'll be heading to jackson hole 2 or 3 times this year (parents friend got a high up job there, ski free) and i've always wanted a pair just never had the money. Well this year, i landed a job (2 in fact) and i have money. I'll be spending about 500 on park skis along with another 300 or so on various accesories. i'm hoping to get a cheap pair of tele skis at my ski swap w/ boots for under 100. My budget is 1250, so that leaves me with 350 for pow skis and yes, i'm most likely going to get used, cause i won't be riding them momentuous amounts of time. so i've started my research but i figured i could use NS help on the subject. i'm 5' 10'' and about 140-150.. so suggestions about pretty much everything would be awesome..

179 obsethed, 178/185 rossi s5, 182 czar, 182 vct all sick all-mountain/pow skis for more pure pow Id look into 179 hellbent, 185 armada arg, 183 atomic bentchetler, surface new life 189, moment bibby 186.

what kind of pow riding do you want them for, steeps, trees ,crud ,switch etc.....

thank you (+K)  .. i'll be researching these and deciding on what fits me.. i'm looking for something probably for steeps mostly and trees.

this really helps because i've never really researched the technology or anything behind powder specific skis and i could use all the help i can get

You probably will not find Bentchetlers or Blogs, the slightly narrower version, anywhere used.  I have heard good things about Surface.  Take a look at Bacons, the VCT has been recommended to me when I was looking.  I am the same size as you and I went with Lizzies because I am skiing tight east coast trees.  The rossi s6/steeze gets alot of hype and good reviews also.

Firstly as this is a Powder/All mountain ski, forget anything reverse sidecut. I Ski the EP Pro as my powder ski and next year i'll be on the Line Elizabeth as my park/all mountain ski. The EP could be used as pow/all mountain, this past season I used it a fair amount all over the hill but for more all mountain performance i'd go stiffer and narrower. The smaller companies are making some of the best skis in the category you are looking at. I'd look at:

Ok just read the bit about your budget..
Well the Moments are gonna be way too much.. but if you pre-order the ON3Ps they are $449 brand new in the presale. I would be looking to find another 100 and get those.

ok, I hope this does not sound harsh, but if you are needing to be cheap than you probably won't have a ton of choice.  I too buy all my skis cheap new or used, and had a list of jibbyish pow skis I wanted(expecting to buy Chetlers, ARGs, JJs, or something like that) but ended up getting LL2s because they were new for $275 shipped.  I think you should just keep an eye out on BST here and use google shopping sometimes to try to find a cheap pow ski around now that fits you.

woah third post in this thread sorry.. but why not spend 350 on park skis and use the 500 for pow skis.. makes more sense that way.. especially since you're gonna fuck up your park skis anyway..

Blue Steele ($349) + Billy Goat ($449) on presale = $798 (which I believe is more or less what he was going to spend on park ($500) + pow skis ($300)).

Wait- you're on the West Coast, right? If so, you should definitely look at Hellbents. Not all-mountain per se, but definitely great for pow.

im the same height and weight as u and i bought elizabeths last year for powder days and ended up liking them so much i use them everywere now. they shred powder super well cuz their flexy and fat

ok, so i found these browsin the utah classi's. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad=7077007&cat=414&lpid=7  looks like a good deal and 183cm is good (i figure) and for 300.. w/ bindings. can't go wrong?

the armada JJ is a good pow all mountain ski with a very short radius for gs turns.

you might also want to consider the EP pro from line for the deeper stuff.

you could chec out some skis from ON3P or 333skis.com to get skis which are more unique.

I suppose not, but firstly new is generally the way to go if you can. Secondly, not everyone agrees, but I would swear by rockered skis for powder, it massively improves the experience. Your total budget of 850 for park/pow skis, is plenty to get two pairs of brand new skis. I genuinely can't understand spending more on the park skis than the pow. At least check out the ON3P option at http://on3pskis.com/. But i'm sure there are stacks of park skis you could pick up new for less than 300 bucks. Leaving you 550 for any pow ski you want.

or check out the line sir francis bacon. it is fairly stiff, is narrow enough for fun on piste but fat enough for off piste action.
