Anthem

so im pretty positive on getting anthems this year..only thing is ive heard the 08 09 have a problem with holding wax on the bases and was wondering if the octoland/spirals have that same problem? also how good are the outside the park..maybe 35-40 percent groomers/trees etc.

That's a pretty ridiculous rumor, why wouldn't they hold wax?

if you weigh more than like 100 pounds there going to be too soft for anything other than just dicking around, rails, and medium sized jumps. Unless you just ski like a pussy, im not a huge fan

I hate them, but for different reasons than Iridehood a few above me.  I felt they had no smooth turns, bad edge grip(no it was not the tune) and were not fun even for the jibbing they were designed for.  I expected to like them, but have deep hatred for them after skiing them a bit(never owned them skied Mr.Derricks, who sold them because they suck).  First off, this whole symmertical thing in my mind is stupid and a total sales pitch for people who apparently can't ride backwards well.  Chronics ride much much better switch than Anthems do, and that is comparing an all mountain twin from the same brand as Anthems...  Still though, even if you must go symmetrical, get a good pair like Reno Jibs, Disorderlys, ON3P Blue Steeles maby(haven't skied them myself though, just guessing they are good).

 I rode anthems part of last season and all of this season, and i liked them for rails and jibs and that stuff, and even on the jumps, but they got considerably softer as time went on. I noticed that towards the end of this season, if i wasn't landing very square on my feet that i would have to drop back and drag my hand to keep from washing out. On the upside it taught me to not land back seat, and the added softness made it easier to butter for jibs and stuff.
 As for powder, when i first got them, i thought they were pretty sweet, and as long as you can actually ski they work well (for what they are). but becuase of the center mount i had to lean back alot and when skiing pow all day it could get rather uncomfortable. 

All in all not a bad ski, definitely good in the park, but a little soft for my taste.

wtf i asked mr. derrick if he liked his anthems and heres what he said:

alright, they are sick skis im 5'10 145 and ride 178s they dont seem to flexy, but you should for sure get 178s, they carve realy good on groomers, but when im carveing off lips and throwing cork they are not the best, but i dont think you east coasters have big kickers like 50ft but on rails and boxes and jibing they are the best, and get some light binders cause i got heavy bindings with myn and they were bolth heavy feeling, but in pow they are actualy realy good get them.

yo you dont know me but you seem legit and have octolands. my question is how well do the octolands perform outside the park like on groomers. i am 5'11 117 lbs. and can get a great deal on some 171. i ride 159 p.e.s right now and honestly wouldnt feel comfortable on 178's. so anyway are these carveable and also how do they do in pow. im an east coaster but might go with my family up o whistler next year. these will be my first center mounts. any info would be greatly appreciated.p.s. your custom crewneck is so sick!
