I have to go from upstate/central NY, to 5 minutes away from the New Jersey border.  Back in Dec/Jan I got a 58 in a 45 on my way to creek.

I am not a bum by any means, but it was hard to find some presentable clothes.  I settled with a grey suede shirt, tan corduroys, new plain brown Adidas, and my black enjoy belt.  I pretty much look like I went for the generic 'Old man look' and I hope I don't get laughed at.

I am not too worried about the outcome, I was an active NYS Police Explorer, so I got some advice from the Sheriff, as well as some of my Dads downstate detective friends.

you don't have a polo? just wear khakis and a polo.

where in NY? thats in no way upstate, haha. NJ does go up that far. is that like tappan zee?

All of my polos are too loud/informal.

I live in the Western Catskills, it's a 2-hour drive to get to the courthouse, 5 minutes from NJ, 15-ish from Mtn. Creek.

It's 13 over. It'll be a slap on the wrist and a few bucks out of your wallet at worst considering it sounds like your first time.

My guess is reduced to 2 parking tickets, at $100 total fine.

first offense? if so you are fine man.

just go in looking half decent and don't make excuses. tell them you made a mistake and regret the decision you made. also you put not only your life in danger but other peoples and that was not a good move. idk basically just suck up to the judge. you'll most likely get the points thrown out and a fine.

i used the same basic technique to get 105 in a 55 reduced to 71 in a 55...shit works.

I was on a straight-ass road, which went from 55 to 45 a few times.  I was foolishly relying on my Garmin to tell me what the speed limit was, and it said 55, but it was wrong.

I am not even thinking about saying that, I'll just bite the bullet and get out of there.

I'd just mail the ticket in.  I wouldn't bother driving to hours to go to court for a 13 over.  I got a 69 in a 55, but I'd have to go to Aitkin County (2 hrs away), so I'm just mailing it in.

I got a 82 in a 55 reduced to running a stop sign, $135 fine 2 points on my liscence, but my insurance company hasn't figured it out yet so the insurance is the same. I wrote a letter to the DA you should have done that, I know the judge flipped shit on me in front of the entire room calling me reckless and threatening to put me in jail (FYI in NY you can get 15days in jail for going 20mph over) she said if I hadn't  had the letter from the DA that she would have given me the max fine and suspended my liscence.


Don't worry about looking like an old man just make sure to be respectful and have a good excuse. I tried to be honest with my judge and it backfired big time. So lie your ass off.

Alright, I went.

Before the Judge came in, the officers present each pulled criminals out to talk to them.  When I was the chosen criminal, I walked down the hall and all the officer said was 'Stopped on pavement, no points.  Sound good?'  I agreed and waited.

When I was called up, it was much of the same.  A few words from the Judge, and a warm thank you directed towards both, and I walked out with no points and a $235 ticket.

They were pretty relaxed there, I have never seen so many smiles in a courtroom before.
