I've been listening to alot of hyphy and learning everything about the culture and now everything makes so much sense in every hyphy song i listen to its intense. for example the song tell me were to go every word that E40 says make complete sense. I love it

central valley CA is the worst. we are close enough to the bay that kids think they know what's up on the block as far as the hyphy movement is concerned (about 3 years behind though,) but we have few enough black people that they can get away with acting hyph.

and good call on the heiro, zion i, and blackalicious. some of my favorite.s

yea cuz they are cultured and come from the area, know people that know some people that know some people. hell yea mother fuckin suburban kids get their money right out here too in northern california. and its not from "hyphy music." what's being said is if a skier from the industry came in to the bay throwin out the word hyphy, the only slang word they know outta california at a sydeshow or some shit, theyd get no love, and prolly get they motha fuckin hood stomped out. by the way, thread creator...all i can do is shake my head in disgust. 916

true. i have friends in btown and oakland, never once do they speak of mac dre. it's all about boppas, gouda, and gettin that JAWMAICAAA!

thiz is what it iz. listin to bobby shaw for some good shit. mac dre will always be a factor. smoov e enjoys a rusty squeez box. j tee is sick as fuck and many more. check out cutthroat community thats the whole bay shabang .

o yea im from vermont and i do enjoy this music. but noone here that is my age is ready for it. and its sad considering this movement is the past.

o well it takes about 3 or 4 years for music to get from cali to here i guess.  and none of this shit intrested me when i was 4

ahahha. you've got some good intent my friend. however its actually Todd Shaw, as I imagine you were talking about too $hort. and the group cutthroat community is actually (pay attention to the spelling) cutthoat commitee. yea pick up money iz motive it knocks and features many of the bigger names especially from the crest. im glad you enjoy the music but youve definitely still got some learnin to do. ahahaha cutthroat community.

You're talking to somebody who's actually lived in Berkeley, California. Nobody ever ever calls it 'btown' ever. Its Berkeley, or Bezerkeley, or something like that... but never ever have i ever called it nor heard it called Btown by anyone from the bay area...

i dont know where your friends are from... but its definitely not the bay.. and they should be slapped.

Oakland is the town.. hence oaktown..

Berkeley, is just Berkeley and really thats all there is to it. (People only really call it bezerkeley in the same context as they could call Oakland "oaksterdam")

There cannot be two 'town's next to each other... that would be like calling SF the 'city', and turning around and also calling Daly City (just south of SF) like.. 'D-City' or something. It just doesnt work.

like i said some are from berkeley and some are from oakland. they have their own language and i'm pretty sure they'd know more than i do.. but who fucking cares. all of the people posting in this saying "you don't know hyphy or you don't know about the bay" thats like canada getting together and saying "you don't know anything about hockey"

Pretty sure nobody from america takes hockey culture as seriously as the Canadians... Unless they are from North Dakota, Minnesota, or one of those other states which might as well be in Canada anyway haha.
