Anyone know where to look for a dog other than...

I looked on petfinder.com and they seem to mostly have people looking for $250-$300 for a mix breed which for most breeds could get a pure bread around here. I also have been looking on craiglist and all of the local shelters. Anyone know another site or place I am missing to find a puppy? I want to adopt one, not buy from a breeder or a pet store.

i would go to the nearest humane society.   The one i went to would spay or neuter your dog for free when you get it.  I wouldnt use the internet.  Ive seen alot of shit about how a lot of those sites are fucked up.

I have been been to every humane society and dog shelter that I could find on this half of the state (Ohio). I have found two but both got adopted before I could get there to them :(. But, I will regularly check the shelters and would love to find one there but I don't know how lucky I will get because they go fast.

The first was a brindle colored American Bulldog/Boxer mix that I missed out on. The second was a chocolate lab/weimaraner mix. Both amazing! I want is going to be a larger dog.

Brindle dogs always seem to go faster than solid dogs, I don't know what it is about them but it's so true. Labs will always be adopted quickly due to the nature of the breed and the conception of being a family dog.

Are there any specific breeds you do not like (pitbull/rotts/dobies/german shepard dog..etc)?

I can check and see what we have here if you are willing to make a drive to the PA border.

I am looking for any puppy that is going to be bigger that has no pitbull in it, due to neighborhood and insurance restrictions. But, for the right dog I am willing to drive.
