Replying to Longboards on a plane (question, not a movie)

I am leaving tomorrow for Ireland for two weeks. I want to bring my longboard with me to ride, My question is can i bring it on. I wanted to know what you guys have done because lots of NSers longboard and travel. I have an original apex 37. 37 meaning 37 inches, cabin space is above the seat is 55 inches. I am flying from JFK  to Shannon on Aer Lingus.

I see people bring strollers on plane, how could this be any different, right?
