So I THINK I've narrowed it down to these cameras. Money is a big issue
so the cheaper the better, but if im spending this much money I want it
to last for a while before I think I need something better. First off,
I heard that FX7 have better quality then DVX but you sacrifice alot of
things for that. Also, if someone could help me with the differences
between the FX7 and FX1. I know the FX7 is newer but people still like
the FX1. Also, if anyone has any other suggestions for cameras I am
open to that. Thanks.
It all depends on what look you're going for, the 1080i from the fx1 looks pretty damn good and the colors are pretty good too, id probably rather have an fx1 than a dvx, but thats because i like HD. Now you on the other hand don't like super sharp/HD picture so of course you'd want the dvx.
Really what it boils down to is intended use. An FX1 will be great for skiing, but really isn't a very versatile camera. The DVX, while it's not HD, can be used for just about anything. Variable framerates and XLR's makes it a great camera for narrative films, documentaries, action sports, you name it. This is not to say that you can't use an FX1 to do these things, however the DVX is a superior tool in all respects aside from resolution.
I just don't consider 1080i to really be "high definition," even though that is the terminology. Hell, 1080p seems like it should be considered SD and 4K etc. should be "HD."
