Hey guys just bought some k2 extremes and im just starting to get into freestyle skiing and i was wondering if there was anything i needed to do to get them ready for winter. I know i needa wax them and ive also heard that i needa dull some of the edges. But im not sure how much to dull it. Ive also read around the forums about the k2 extremes and a lot of people say that they wouldnt use them on rails and i was wondering why not and if i did would it be really bad for them?

dont dull the edges right away unless you are sliding lots. Do you know how to ski properly already? casue if you dont dull edges will make it a bitch to learn.

many people do not like stiff skis on rails. I like medium-stiff skis for everything park including rails, and Extremes will perform excellent in pipe/on jumps(a bit heavy though). They will work fine on rails for sure, just not as playfull as say Thalls. You should be happy with these, they are much better than my first twins which were an old version of Rossi S1s in a 168...way to small and mounted like a race ski. I will re-mount those with decent binders at -1 and use them as rock skis though, after a tune. DO NOT de-tune your edges. I understand a somewhat dull tune on some park skis, but you will not be buttering Extremes, and you will ruin there jump/pipe performance.

extremes and stiffer skis on rails is just personal preference. I have 08 dumonts which are pretty stiff and i ski tons of rails and they do great. Dont detune your edges just slide them and let them naturally dull out.

Hey i just looked at the skis and it theres areas where they look like they put holes in then filled them again. Does this mean that they had bindings before? Also it looks like they mounted one right then the other is mounted backwards. Will this create a problem when i do put my bindings on them?

If they are filled properly, no. But Helicoil it to be safe. Where did you get these that they have already been mounted?
