I would like to start buttering, and am wondering if there is one kind that is easier than another kind. Anyone had any luck?

Start by hockey stopping with less edge...get the feel of flattening the skis with the ankle...then do this by putting forward pressure on your skis, it should spin you around switch...this is a simple nose butter...then tails...its that easy. Its all about having a good stance and finding the spots on your skis that are easiest to be said "the butter points"...the more pressure (while staying balanced) makes it a nose press...the "butter" comes from manipulating you're skis to spin you around, buttering the bread effect but instead, you're buttering the snow...

I use Crisco in place of fattening butter.

My advice is to find some sort of lip to try butters off. If you have a lip you won't be at as much of a risk to catch your tails when nose buttering. Just think of hopping a 180 while leaning over the front of your bindings. Keep your hands centered in front of you. If you want to move it to 360 just set it harder and keep your shoulders rotating. Hope this helps!
