Landyactz evo or landyactz dh race as my firts speed board? Any other recamendations but i want a dropped board

fuck land yachts bro, they're no good, too heavy and bulky,  if I had money laying around I might get a Durvish( I think I spelled that right) they make Loaded Boards, those are sick, I personally think Sector Nines are overrated, but that doesn't mean theyre not good boards.  They make some sick decks for sure.  Their pintails are super solid at speed, easily up to like 50mph, and their Platinum series are pretty sick.  Thats my input, and I board quite a bit.  Oh yeah, the Loaded Boards are going to be expensive.

one more i forgot but I'm impressed with are Lush boards, I think thats the drop thru my friend had and it's the sickest deck for bombing insane hills, super stable, carves, slides, the whole deal, I'm pretty sure it's a lush

How long have you been longboarding and on what board(s) do you currently own?

If this is going to be your only board, I would recommend a Landyachtz Chinook over a DH or Evo.
If you have another board that you can use for commuting, then either board should be fine.

I have ridden the evo, but not the DH, it seems like a good board(pretty heavy) and should take some abuse. I found it good for sliding, but its more of a slide with the back if that makes any sense.

The DH seems like you would have to slide with your weight more even.

Both are quality boards, and will be good for speedboarding, but if your not planning on using it exclusively for bombing hills, i would check out the chinook as well.

my friends have both of those and they both love them so id say you cant go wrong with either.  landyachtz definitely makes some of the best speed boards.

sector 9's arent that bad, they're just over hyped, sector 9 flat pin tail with Indy 180's and sector 9 wheels is a pretty nice setup. The evo has exagerated wedge/ dewedging built into it which gives you more stability. the 2009 Rayne Hellcat is a reaally nice dh board, it's great for sliding and dh, where as the evo isn't so great for sliding.

yeah seriously if you want a speed board get a Landyachtz Evo, hands down the best.  Heavy so what?  How does that come into play for a downhill board?  Hardly.  I had mine with 83mm wheels so it holds the speed a lot longer. 

Trust me dude for speed you have to get a drop deck, anyone that recommends a pintail hasn't gone that fast.  They work, but if you aren't a total master over any bit of speed wobble, you won't have a good time.  They are for carving.

Go for the Evo. Unlike what numb nuts up there said, it's not heavy unless you're a pussy. I push mine down in Denver all the time up to like 4-5 miles and it's not bad.

From what I've heard, the Evo is a better DH/freeride board than the actual DH.

Go with the Evo.

are you looking for a strictly DH board? if so, check out the evo.  the dh race is a little too extreme for even some pro riders so i wouldnt really recommend it.  are you stuck on getting a drop deck or would you go for a drop through?  landy's drop speed is real sick, as well as the rayne hellcat.  i have both a hellcat and an evo, and i like the hellcat alot more, but it's all preference.  if you want to get a used evo, maybe we can work something out for mine because id be happy to sell it

yeah I would def go with the evo. Its an excellent downhill board and is still pretty versatile.

get an evvoooo!

i've had one for a little over a year now and its pretty much the chronic. supppper stable and can actually carve decently for a drop deck. personally to the person that suggested chinook i find it a bit too wide, if your really dont know how to ride a skateboard or somethin or your a really big dude then maybe that. throw some bear trucks and some big zig's on it and you've got a wicked bombing board. and with it being so low to the ground, i\ve found it the best board i've ridden to push around on.

but seriously, get the evo.

i recommended the hellcat, but rayne quality is far from great.  i have heard more stories of their boards cracking than any other company.  almost every nemisis i have seen, including my own, have stress cracks on the drop.  rayne says it doesnt affect strength at all but it definitely does.  im not dissing rayne at all because i LOVE my deelite hellcat, but rayne's quality is something to look out for

Read through the first 25 or so posts, heres what I have to add:

Riding DH on a turnier, less stable board will make you better. Fact. You seem to know roughly what you're doing, but keep this in mind. Say goodbye to speed wobbles and hello to strong ankles and better lines.

About board choice, Definetly not the dh race. No DH racers use this board...

Evo is a very good DH board. Wedged in the front (more turning) and dewedged in the back (more grip, more stability, less wobbles, but less agility). I think its a 17* wedge

Wedging increases a truck's effective kingpin angle. More kingpin angle means more board turn per amount of lean. so, a 0 degree truck (which does exist) would lean, but wouldn't turn.

If you go with an evo, run probably a 35* front truck (52* w/wedge). and maybe a 42 or even a 35 in back (35* and 18* respectively)

Rayne also makes good boards, lil' bit spendier than landyachtz, but very nice. Whoever said that LY has bad quality control was mistaken, Rayne had some issues that are now resolved.

If you want a top of the line DH board, look at KEBBEK. Wide variety(for different preferences and styles), perfect construction, dead stiff, good company. Definitly top of the line. Expect to pay 150+, but never have to buy another DH board.

You're relitively new to DH, so here's some questions to ask yourself.  What are the hills like, and do you want a steady board or a nimbler board.  A driftly ride, or a gripy ride? Boards affect this.
