I just bought the Watchmen 2-disc special widescreen directors cut version edition set, and as I opened it, all excited to re-watch the movie I loved so much back in March, out falls a little flyer: "GET $10 OFF THE [5-disc] WATCHMEN ULTIMATE COLLECTOR'S EDITION COMING IN DECEMBER 2009!" In other words, Warner Bro.s had the balls to include a discount for a future edition of the DVD I JUST BOUGHT. Normally I'd be pretty pissed off, but honestly, I should have done some research before buying, and the sheer audacity of the marketing scheme has me oddly impressed.
So, for the 10 of you who want the best version of Watchmen on DVD or BluRay, don't buy it yet, just get the coupon from somebody else and wait until the Ultimate Collector's Edition comes out in 5 months.
Now I'm just hoping they release a 5-disc edition of The Dark Knight
