Has anyone taken the GRE test?

I am going to have to take the GRE test soon and was wondering if other people had taken it, and what they thought, and if they studied for it.

I do realize that most people on a ski site largely populated by highschoolers might not know, but I do know that some people on here have pursued higher education.

My girlfriend took it twice and hated it.
I'll probably take it next year. I was going to take it this fall, but I didn't really feel like fronting the cost and study time for it.

i took the gmat which is a similar test for grad school admission and it wasn't that bad.  i didn't study for it at all.  i think the hardest part was some of the geometry & trig, but only because i hadn't really done any of it in years.  i "passed" on my first attempt.

its like the SAT only a little more difficult...in fact the verbal secion was brutal...i did below average on that but i thought the math was super easy...and the writing wasnt bad

The math portion is disgustingly easy. I'm not that smart but got an 800, so that should tell you something. For the verbal part I would get some flash cards for the most used words or at least learn the roots, those will help you most of the time. For the writing I would suggest creating a template and just pumping out 5-7 paragraphs for each essay. Template meaning the beginning and ending of intro/conclusion, it lets you worry about the writing and not thinking up some eye catcher first sentence. I would suggest linear, almost formulaic arguments.
