Tom Wallish the best or not?

Don't get me wrong Tom Wallish is a GOOD skier, however he is not at the top of the list. There's just something about his steeze that doesn't do it for me. To be the best you have to look the best, not just talk about how good you are. For example in his make me famous edit (https://newschoolers.com/web/content/viewvideo/id/268631/search_string/tom/) at 3:09 he throws a 450 disaster onto a box, if he had steeze he would have thrown a shifty into that.

wallisch is better than dumount in my opinion. dumount doesnt have double corks. tom does


wallisch right now has so much hype around him because he deserves it. the only thing that hes not good at is pipe which ive never seen him ski.
he is probably the best at urban in my opinion and top 5 in jumps.

IMO T-wall is the best allround skier out there. Saw him at Juvass, he's sick at recovering when something is going wrong in the air.

at windells, I saw tom wallisch sesh with dumont, shiller, henrick, mcchesney, and a bunch others, and I have to say, he may not throw the most technical tricks of them all, but wallisch is has by far the most style, his switch dub 10 looked like he never left the ground, I have to say, "best" has the many definitions, but I would say he is the best at consistancy

i have been on newschoolers like 6 months and i have seen about 100 to many threads and about 2000 to many posts implying tom wallnuts is like the new god of skiing....could be taking some serious shit for posting this but tom wallish is just another pro skier to me i could list at least 10 other skiers i would rather ski with or watch ski then tom, please dont take this the wrong way wallish kills it no doubt no hate towards him at all but alot of these cats on newschoolers talks about tom like he is the Tiger Woods of skiing....i respectfully disagree...

well in my opinion tom is definitly beter than simon at jibs and urban but thats because simon is abit more oldschool,but simon kills tom when i comes to big air tricks and being a showman

sure, but i think you also forget backcountry and big mountain, which tom is far from dominating right now, and you have to do both if you really want to be an all-around skier.

In my opinion; you can't decide who is the "best" skier of all skiers in general. What I mean by that is that you can't say (for example): "Tom Wallisch is the best because he can throw down 2pretzel2's on a down rail with a mile-long afterbang added to it." That just doesn't cover it. I have a lot of respect for T-Wall because he can make technically difficult tricks look something as I dare put it; Flawless. But obviously there's more to that. T-Wall is performing good in one part of this sport, and so far I like what I've seen, but if you could go behind the scenes in every ski-clip you find of a skier, you'd see something different. It's not always how they perform in edits, movies and so long; it's how you experience a skier live and in person. Like, when you watch an X-Games Live Webcast or something at your computer, you are able to quickly skim through the mistakes, or the slightest bummer a skier makes because it's not 100% of those Million-dollar shot angles you see in Poor Boyz or Level 1, and it's just cameras, switching between 10 angles throughout the course so that you can see what's going on, it's not filmed from 5 angles, and play'd 3 times over in slowmo so that you'd see the highlight.

I feel like I'm starting to go a little off topic so I'm just going to cut it there, and just go more direct to the question. Every skier is best shown when you're with him/her in person, what you see in the movies are golden shots, hand-picket among probably five houndred takes or more. And besides, not ever skier can be good at everything. I don't see Tanner Hall being as good as Håtveit or Schiller in the Slopestyle, and Vice Versa. That's due to their spesific training, related to what they like to compete in.

So in short; there's not one "The best".

i watched tom ski at windells with a ton of other pros and he was still the most fun to watch. sammy was a close second, but he tended to focus just 1 or 2 things given the day. everyday tom would do a trick that left my jaw open, and even other pros would be talkin about it afterwards like rightside 450 blind 2 on down rail, then five minutes later, with just a little warm up he would be showing everyone up on the next thing, like the sw 10 tail on the jump that almost everyone people stopped at 9 on

Well rounded being rails and jumps only? He's nowhere near the level of the actual tops dogs. T money slays rails jumps pipe and bc. Jon O, does all that an then some. He's good, but he's not great, yet.

Yes he lacks backcountry but think of how many do until they enter into the later years of their professional career accept for a few. Tom is the best to many of us because he came up from being oneof us. The hyphy edits, He went to normal parks that all of us skiied at and showed us so much more is possible than we thought. And we keep seeing him blow up more and more. I mean think about his Joss edit. It was ridic. But all in due time he will move into the backcountry. Finally based on his performace at the last stop of the Dew Tour I think he will move into the ranks of the greats like Tanner very soon.

Well, as alot of you have already said, I believe it is a matter of opinion to some degree. Tom Wallisch is obviously my favorite skier, and in my opinion...he is the best, and its for alot of reasons. I don't know all the technical terms, but what I do know is how amazing he is to watch. He has a style that is so smooth, so natural,  so comfortable and so damn thrilling to watch! I do believe he IS "The King of Afterbang", and I don't think there are many who would deny him that. He finishes his jumps/tricks like he started them......effortlessly and with grace.  He has that swagger on his landings....so steezy, just like in the beginning of "Make me Famous" going down the isle. King of style for sure!!  As far as the rails, I like to discribe him as "dancing". Again he just moves so fluidly, yet agressive. Always spotting the next thing coming, so consentrated and focused, yet approached with ease.

Aside from his amazing skills, he seems to have such a great sense of humor and positive outlook on life. I can't remember seeing a video or picture of him without a big smile on his face, and why wouldn't he. He is doing what he loves best, and gets paid doing it. But mostly I think he has a deep appreciation for everything he has achieved through his hard work and devotion. There is my opinion of Tom Wallisch.

Now, i would say that tom wallisch is the best.
1. Best style out there, on rails and jumps. its basically undesputed. And afterbannggg
2. King of rails. Does the most tech and the smoothest combos on rails
3. And jumps. Ive been following him for 4 years, and before his best trick was a sw 10 mute. Not to be sneered at but not the best. Now, he is throwing everykind of double flip invented that used to be only for the elite skiiers. So now he is basically the best at rails, steeze, and just as good at jumps as everyone now in my opinion. So as a steeze machine, hes a tank and the best skier out there.

If you don't like Tom Wallisch, that's cool. You don't have to. If you do, that's great.

There is no "best skier" it's a purely subjective debate.

Until you find some way of measuring every single aspect of freestyle skiing, this debate is pointless.
