Nikon D70 price help

There is a Nikon D70 on my local craigslist for $250 in good condition. Also has a lens for $100 70-300mm. Is this a good deal?
I have read people like the D70 better than the D40. I could either get this set-up for $350 or try offering lower, or can get a new D40 with a standard lens. What do you all think?

I think you need to do some research of your own. Figure out exactly what you need and work from there.

well I pretty much had decided on a D40, then decided to read about them on here and people had been saying they liked the D70's better. So now Im at the point where I need to research the D70 to compare, but I saw this on craigslist and seemed like a pretty good deal so I am here asking lol. The reason I hadn't researched the D70 yet is because I just saw this today and if its a good deal I don't want to miss out.

well if you want autofocus buy the d70 and if you dont really care get the d40. d70 will save you money because you wont have to get the AF-S lenses to have autofocus.   So i say go with the d70 and thats a really good price you might have to pay some more if you want a d40
