Stop with the age claiming

Seriously, who gives a fuck if he is 3 or 30. Age shouldn't matter at all these days. Just because you can do a 360 and slide a box when you are 9 doesn't mean you are the shit. Little kids should be going big, because they don't think about stuff as much as you do when you get older.

it's just annoying seeing people post age to justify their skill level. i'm not saying this because i'm pissed that people are better then me, because believe me, i am no where near most of these kids, it is just annoying

I dont really agree with you if a kid is really young and throws down hard why not tell everyone how old he is? Like willie and kids like that. If you are as good as they are and as young then its pretty cool. Also I think it is oither people "age claiming", not the kids who are skiing.

Because body size and center of gravity matters more in skiing then it does in say baseball. the smaller you are the better chance you have to learn a 360. thats spriggs and liam are the few dope pros you see b/c of their height. its so much harder to control ones body in the air when your 6' 4 vs. 5 '7. Also physically your body is naturally more flexible when you are younger then when you get older. Also mentally you have a lot less going on in ur life and your limits for progression are a lot stronger. If you ask me, I think the positives of being young outweigh the positives for being older. You should be throwing down younger, you NO excuse whereas a guy with a wife and a kid and full time job is limited because of his time.

I think credit is deserved to little guys like that just for mentality. I mean you could be out playng with action figures like the rest of the kids your age, or you could be out throwin down and working on your style. Most kids aren't thinking about those things or reached a point to care about skiing in that way.

i think a big point is being missed, i see wayy too many kids get hooked up by the time the are 13/14 becuase they can do 7's and 9's . Then they never progress because they become cocky and already beleive that they have made it (so to speak) in the ski industry. So by hyping young skiers, you improve their confidence . But not their skiing in the long run.

i've been tooting that horn for years it seems.
I could care less about age. In something like freeskiing, youth is beneficial, not the other way around most of the time. Also, the barriers are down when it comes to what can and has been done one skis. Like most sports, that means quicker progression. Parks overall are far more complete and conducive to learning in the park; generally speaking (save some small hills and stuff) you don't find your hand made parks, your 10 ft piece of shit jump, and otehr factors that had to be overcome by skiers preceeding them.

Nothing is going to really overcome experience (age) and physical ability, but something where you're hitting jumps and the like, it pays to be young, akin to something like gymnastics.


So yea, I agree, stop claiming age.

Spend a day with Seamus and Willie and you will quickly see that these kids love to ski and love to progress.  Ask anyone who skis with them and they will tell you the same thing.  These guys are so dedicated to the sport, they deserve everything that comes their way, hands down.  They live in Minnesota, not a whole lot of exposure here, and they got to where they are by giving it 110%.

Skiing making these kids cocky? give me a break... they're the furthest from being cocky that a person can be.  It's a shame that some people assume that they're cocky without ever meeting them.

Some of the logic in this thread is completely ass backwards.

Because it doesn't matter, at all. If some dude is 29 and doing switch double corks, word, I'll think the exact same about some kid whos 15 doing switch double corks, age means nothing, its a fucking number that society has labeled our lives with and shit doesn't matter in sports.

it depends because it impressive to be that talented at a young age but one if he's been skiing all his life? I for one think its way more impressive for a 13 year to learn to ski and be hucking tens by the end of the season. I think if skiing MUST be judged why not judge it on years of experience instead of age?

If it was such a good idea to make these kids wait to get sponsored, why would huge ski companies like Salomon sponsor them now? 

These companies know what they are doing and they know that these kids just love skiing.  If anything, kids like Willie probably progress faster than a lot of pros... they aren't partying every night and they are expected to send in footage, appear in edits and compete just like any other sponsored skier. 

The little guys may not be our favourite skiers, but I can bet a lot of kids their age are stoked to watch them.
