agreed, there were like 4 in a row in that edit and it seemed a little repetitive, but definitely cool once in awhile

i disagree, Mute Pokes are SICK. Sammy has some sick ones (yes, he does to many, but who cares they look sick). It's actually on my trick list for next year.

in the xgames, in his last run he actually poked on every single trick except for the rails. i like it maybe once or twice in a run, then it gets excessive

ya his first run was way better i thought where he only poked the last jump. his second run i literally got annoyed the way he just kept poking them. but the first run spot on.

Thats because in the x games you have ot do the most technical tricks, and if that means mute pokes on every trick, why not show the judges you can do it?

There is a difference between technicality and repetition in judges eyes.  Switch 1440's are super difficult, but if you did 4 in a row in the X games, you're not gonna score very well. 
Double nose grabs are tech... doing 4 in a row would not show much skill.  Anyone can practice one trick over and over and over until it's perfect....

you want to see less shiftied grabs?, i suppose you want to see more switchup 270s, because obviously an edit full of those gets more respect on NS. everything sammy did in the recent edits is sick skiing, and since he isnt a railrat, the jibbing he did was top notch.

dunc dog slayed the editing as always. the song wasn't original, but who cares! i thought it went well with the way sammy rides.....FAST. he skis how your supposed to, not stop after every feature and gather yourself, but just cruise. he is always listening to music and just rolls through the park whatever feature it is and drops hammers.

sammy kills it and you can't agrue that. rides pow, slays rails, and can obviously jump. mute pokes are cool and he does do it a lot. again, who cares. there were a bunch of crits in there too and thats what he likes to grab, get off it. i could be wrong, but from what i remember he was the one who started the poke. AND we all know sammy can do other grabs besides that, he was just feeling the pokes these few days. there are days where i grab nothing but japan, just cause i'm feelin it.

bottom line, watch the edit and all edits for what they are. not what you think they should be.

This is the most dickhead thread I've seen all year. And the most clueless. Not because Sammy's pokes are beyond criticism, but because Borland doesn't have half the skill or clout to condescend to someone on Sammy's level. I love the democracy of NS, but this is one of its down sides, like watching kids take cheap shots at Tanner after he makes a thread. Although this is worse, because Borland doesn't realize he's dime-a-dozen up-and-comer. At least the kids who talk shit to Tanner know where they stand.

Who cares if it's not the craziest thing ever. Sammy is showing people that you don't have to be doing crazy doubles and stupidly big spins (14's+) to be good at skiing. He's one of the best skiers out there. and the fact that he's toned down his tricks a little says a lot about his outlook. Theres nothing wrong with pokes I could say the same thing about Tom Wallisch and afterbang. But I won't because I have class and respect his style (especially since he's the one who made it popular in the 1st place) even if it's not the same as mine. People need to learn that skiing isn't a "sport" in the same way soccer or football is. It's more like skateboarding because there's a huge level of creative expression involved. Yes you need to be athletic. But you also have to be athletic to be a dancer. What's important is how the trick looks wether it be crazy or really smooth. Make it unique.

Well I know mute pokes aren't exclusively to one skier. I'm just saying it's Sammy's style that he's known for the most. Anyone can do Mute pokes but sammy does it the best.

My main grabs are mute poke and critical poke. I don't really know why, but I just love pokes. They are so stylie, especially when done by Sammy.
