What should i do?

So i've got a pair of Atomic twins that i've been riding for 1 season but aren't center mounted.  Either i save my money this summer for a new pair of all park skis or just re-mount my atomic twins in the center and buy a decent pair of pants and jacket.  Right now i look like a gaper so its a pretty serious decision.  What should i do?

yeah def dont get new skis unless u need em. im in somewhat same situation as u cept my skis are centermount already

they should do fine espically since your a beginner and might not be riding park 100%

im going into my second season of park and i got a 540 by the end of my first season.  im 100% park now

condrads on the 540 first off after a year, but please please, please i hate when people say there are 100 percent park, there is so much more to skiing than just that, i presume by your username that your from PA, and there isnt much more terrain, im from souther NY so i fell ya man but dont be 100 park

if theres fresh snow or nice moguls i ski those.  when i take my yearly trip to colorado i do maybe 1 run in the park all day.

thats how my dad feels too.  im a little worried about them being weaker when i remount them.

i've ridden at least 3 pairs of skis that have been mounted more than once, and i've never noticed a difference

It's not like your going to be doing huge jumps and be pushing it so hard that it will make a difference since its only your second year

Sure, but its still more holes throught the top sheet, fiber glass and into the core... Its would be like putting 6 small core shots in your ski and haveing them base welded back to new....

core shot... through everything in to "core".. damaged wood... base weld=bottom fixed like new... So I would say yes

And yes skiing in Montana... I have.. Ill post pics sometime, my rock skis are in storage right now, however i have a 18" edge blow out and another 14" deep core shot... pretty bad... on that pair of skis, looks like I skied over a spike strip

i live in montana

and still, getting 6 small core shots that don't damage the core, and then getting the bases repaired, wouldn't make a difference. but whatever you want, i'm not the one spending your money on new skis

the guy who says don't remount doesn't know anything.  if you want them remounted, get them remounted.  a remount has absolutely no affects on the ski unless its done poorly in which case it is the shop at fault.  don't worry about weakening the ski.  my first pair of twintips were mounted traditionaly and i had them remounted to the center.  i was apprehensive at first also, but i rode those same skis for a year and a half afterwards.  i rode those skis until they broke for a completely unrelated reason. 

think about it, would anyone get skis remounted if it risked ruining them?

word. my friend is on his fourth mounting on some AR6s, and he's fat, and they ride perfectly fine.

yeah, remounts mean NOTHING, specifically if its the same pair of bindings. the holes just move up, but are in line with the original holes, so there isnt any real loss of strength. if you were mounting something, and a whole series of holes lined up ACROSS the ski, then you might be at risk, but theres nothing wrong with remounting. shit, I have a pair of old STLs that have literally been mounted about 10 times, into about 3-4 different (and extremely close)positions, and they held up fine. remount and get new gear
