Flatspin

ok this might be a nooby question, but its been swirling round in my head for quite a while.

a flat spin is actually a flip right? or isnt it a flip because if properly conducted youre not inverted but just like a corked backflip.

however a double flatspin 180 is called a kangaroo flip. how come? why not kangaroo spin?
is it just cuz flip sounds cooler?

anyways, i hope you guys know why this is so.

my two questions repeated, cuz as i reread my post it didnt seem so clear :D

so is a flatspin a flip or a spin?
if it is a spin, why is a double flatSPIN 180 called a kangaroo FLIP?

well young boy a flatspin is a spip, wich is a hybrib between a spin and a flip. And a kangaroo flip is a double "rodeo" 900 i do believe. I think a dub flatspin 9 is a pistol flip or something dumb like that. Noone cares about pistol flips and other flips other than the kangaroo flip anyway. And the difference between a rodeo and a flatspin is a rodeo is when the rider becomes completely inverted. The only example i can think od now is look at the new clownschool edit and the last trick is a rodeo 9. Hopw thdt helps

nah a rodeo is when the rider becomes inverted wich is when the feeet go over the head at one point. A flatspin is when the rider/ skiiers body is parallelll with tha snow under him/her and they are spinning flat. Hence the reason they call it a flatspin. Look in the trick tip cult and then in the ultimate trick guide thats stickied......

Kanaroo is a dub flatspin with a 180 thrown in, so a double flat 9. Jon has said it himself.

I think the line between flat spins and rodeos is the most shady line there is.

People will claim flat 3's but i have seen flatter rodeos.

It is called a kangaroo flip just like double corks are lumped into the double flips category.

According to jon (the inventor of the kangaroo flip) is it a double flat nine.

rodeo and flatspin are the same trick people are just fuckin stupid and have shit twisted, i dont notice a difference. honestly ill do a rodeo in the park and some kid will come up to me and say 'hey nice flatspin, and another kid will be like hey nice rodeo. just dont try and wrap your head around it. I know im going to get grilled for this comment because some kid who lives in Florida is gonna be like NO MAN STFU theres a difference flatspins are less inverted. but the thing is i barely go inverted and if i did then it would be a D spin.

rodeo and flatspin are the same. but for some reason every time someone does it with a japan they say flat.

.

and flat 3´s are bullshit. they almost always end up being a diagonal backflip with a japan grab.

thanks for the support and discussion on the flatspin but my actual question was, why it is called a flat SPIN and when  a dub flatspin 180 is thrown down, it is called Kangaroo FLIP.
why is it changing from spin to flip???
does a flip need a full invert? i.e. head pointing to snow?

and is a flat spin a spin or a flip? i know the name suggests it being a spin, but why are 2 flatspins + 180 degrees referred to as a flip then?

am i making sense or not ? XD

Analogy: A square is a quadrilateral. But a square is a more specific quadrilateral with more qualifications to meet. So, a flat spin is a rodeo. But a flatspin is a more specific rodeo with more qualifications to meet.

To the thread creator. I think that the trick is named incorrectly and probably should be a Kangaroo spin. A flatspin is a spin and not a flip because your feet should be parallel and not over your head. But there is a gray area to this because like people have stated some rodeos are more flat and some flats are more flippy. I like to think of a flat 3 like a 1/4 backflip -> lincoln loop -> 1/4 front (but not that robotic). And a rodeo where the spinning and flipping are more integrated and not done at sperate times.

Maybe, I suck at explaining myself. Someone please read this and tell me if it made sense.

I'd say that a flatspin 3 is more like

90 + 1/4 lincoln loop
1/2 backflip (which is done parallell do the ground)
90 + 1/4 lincoln loop

Obviously not that robotic, but something like that if done perfectly.

I've seen kangaroo flips that have been double flat 9s, double rodeo 9s, double back 180s, and double lincoln 180s. They can be thrown a number of different ways. Double flat 9s tend to look the cleanest. As for the trick name, it doesn't really make much sense, but it also doesn't really matter.
