Harry Potter 6...What did everyone think??

just got back from the theatre...3:20 am hahaha
i thought the movie was pretty good...lived up to most of the hype
the wait on the next two part is gonna suck balls though...im thinking i might not even watch the first part of 7 until the day before the second part cause i dont think i could take it hahaha

i thought it followed the book pretty well...def. didnt leave out as much as some of them did...there were some really creepy parts like when the chick was possessed by the necklace

the end really strays away from the book with the battle for the death eaters to leave hogwarts in the movie they just strolled the fuck out the main gate... also SPOILER ALERT FOR NEXT MOVIE............




they deffinately aloud to the fact that snape is working for dumbledore not really leaving much up to the imagination.... like when snape walks in to help the death eaters he finds harry first and just tells him to be quite as apposed to stunning/cursing him....

i don't think so. for someone who hasn't read the books, you'd still think snape was the biggest fucking douche ever.

i don't think it followed that well. they left out a lot and made up some stuff to make it better for viewers. it was still sweet though, and really made me want to read the seventh book again

Spoiler alert... (Movie 6/Book 7)

I enjoyed the movie a lot and found it mostly stuck to the book.
Things would have been more interesting with the battle but I guess it wasn't neccessary. I think the swamp scene was a really weird thing to add though.
I think they added some really great Harry-is-a-Horcrux foreshadowing, something I felt was lacking in the book.
I think the biggest issue for the next book is going to be finding the horcruxes...
In the book we see the memory with the cup and Dumbledore talks about Nagini, the cup and something of Ravenclaw's/Griffendor's being Horcruxes. The movie cut all this so I wonder how the next movie will work.

None of that is noticeable unless you have scrutinized the book already though.  I thought this one portrayed the book better than any of the others.

Just got back from the theater, and honestly, I REALLY disliked the movie. Something about it bored me to death, probably the fact that half the movie was a Ron/Hermione love story.

If you haven't read the books, you would think it's a good movie.

Within the first 30 minutes the movie began majoring straying away from the book. I'd love to know why the fight scene wasn't in there, that's the only reason I went to see it. More was missing from the book and my boyfriend was face-palming basically the entire movie. Hopefully the second part is better.

For as much as they have to condense it, they did an alright job.  They definitely spent wayyy too much time and energy on the love aspects, and not enough on the actual plot layout.  The fact that they didn't throw in some of the best fight scenes in the series is beyond me...but what are you gonna do.  There were a lot of small differences from the book to the movie that were pretty easy to notice...but overall, it really wasn't bad.

I can definately admit i jumped when the Inferi snatched Harry's hand

i just recently watched the first few with my girlfriend, i found them quite slow and someone boaring, dont get me wrong there were some cool parts but the majority of the movies i thought werent that great, they werent nearly as good as all the hype around them, however i havent read any of the books, that might be why too

I thought the movie itself was pretty ok, but i was seriously disappointed by how much the movie strayed from the book for just silly things.  For instance, what the hell was that weird ass corn field seen where they blew the fuck up out of the weasley's house?  There's going to be a wedding there in 3 months, isn't there?  Also, why wouldn't they do the scene in the beginning correctly where dumbledore meets with the Dursley's?  That would have been a sweet scene.  Same with when Scumfregour (whatever his name is, new minister) talks with Harry over Christmas.  Also, how Harry got injured in quidditch and that's how him and Ginny get together.  It's just little things that they didn't need to leave out or change that made me mad.

The final scene... why wasn't Harry paralyzed?  Why wasn't there a sweet battle at the end where Bill gets his face all fucked up?  I'm just frustrated with how much they could have done, but just chose not to.

I reread the book in order to watch the movie and i think i would have been better off just going to the movie without rereading the book.

it made me so mad how they left that shit out. this movie was supposed to be really dark and fucked up like bill getting his face ripped off and then lupin and tonks finally getting together over bills hospital bed but in the movie they were already together.

and how they left out harry basically telling the minister to fuck off

and just when we thought we were gonna see a decent sized wizard battle nope. left it out.

I'm pretty sure that's one of the scenes they will cut in the next movie. They cut out the whole Bill/Fleur plot line in this movie so it would be weird to jump into it and it is pretty unnecessary. I'm also really disappointed we didn't get the Percy and Scrimgeour scene because I loved it in the book and the Dumbledore's man through and through line seemed really important.

Looking back at the movie after sleeping it isn't nearly as good as I had hoped. The whole thing felt kind of choppy and at times rushed. I understand things need to be cut to keep the movie short enough, but they added just as many things as they cut more important ones or strayed pointlessly from the plot. And the ending was terrible... I think everyone was expecting something to happen (like the funeral) so when the screen when black everyone just sat there. Then the credits came on and everyone was like "Wait, what?".

That said I'm watching it again when it comes out in imax and buying it on DVD.

Very inconclusive. I dont think that this was a very good movie for those that havent read the last book. I stopped reading Harry Potter many years ago, so this just seemed like a bad movie to me. There was no story structure, maybe as a whole its a good story, but I just felt like it was a huge cliffhanger/cashgrab to get me to go see the next movie.

I was super disappointed in comparison with the last one. The fight scenes in this movie were pretty much non-existent. What i found even more retarded was the last harry potter film was rated PG-13... this one just rated PG. The last movie was much darker then the previous movies and which was why i enjoyed. This movie however was a fucking romance comedy like fucking wall-e except it blew in comparison.

I really don't know what the director was thinking for this movie, one the biggest characters in the novel gets killed and they barley portrayed it with any action. I just hope the next two movies are rated at least pg-13.

Since my friends and I are fucking nerds, on kid noticed, when Slughorn told harry that strange story about the lily Harry's mother gave him, he said the bowl had 2 inches of water in it.

Anyone else catch the problem there?  They're in England.  They use the Metric System.  America has corrupted Harry Potter!!!!!

I agree with almost all of teh stuff you said but the reason the kept out the badass fighting secenes at the end is because they don't want to make it seem like that battle already happened when people watch the seventh movie. But they still should have had more fighting, especially at the end.

you just reminded me of a bunch of shit that i had forgotten about (and i read the 6th and sevent like a week ago) and now im really pissed. they didnt even mention the new minister...how the fuck does that work out?

whatever ive been basically fapping to harry potter for like a month now so i guess im over it for a minute or two and can go back to watching the office episodes over and over.

they will probably just repair the burrow, i mean how can you have the seventh book be a two parter and not include the wedding?...so much shit happens at it/during it. they see the symbol for the hallows the first time, tell scrimegeour off and get all the shit from dumbledor, all the childhood shit about dumbledor starts to come out and they talk about grindelwand and the other wand maker dude...then the ministry falls.

thats all just at the wedding and there is more shit that goes on than that too.

I seriously hope that movie 7 makes up for all the points they left out of 6.

They need to include the wedding somehow, or else it completely changes the way the plot works.

Overall I thought the movie was pretty dece, except for the missing bits. I liked how the main characters were finally able to act outside of the book lines.

I enjoy the books more, but the movies aren't horible.

i thought it was great, i have heard a lot of people saying its just a set up to the next one and I just shake my head at them. i mean, hello its the journey of someones life... it doesn't just end! everything has been a set up and a piece of the puzzle which make up the aspects of the final battle, which i cannot wait for. and i must say i enjoyed this piece of the puzzle.
