Webhosting Help - Anyone have any opinions?

I am looking at getting some web hosting and have no idea who to go with.

Bluehost, Inmotion, Pair, godaddy, etc, etc.

Anyone have any good/bad experiences?  It seems for each hosting site, there are some people who like it, and others who hate it.

I didn't like Godaddy to much when I used them. But it might have been because it was my first site and I was inexperienced with websites. I just remember there being a lot of hidden fees.

Any major host will have lots of quiet happy customers and a few really loud pissed off ones. None of them are perfect, and their problems effect certain customers in different ways - usually really technical geeky stuff.

BlueHost is the only one I've dealt with out of your list. I've been using DreamHost for a few years. 1&1 and Powweb have been good to me too.

Exactly my thoughts. Plus switching it to a different server and changing registration/licensing was hard to figure out for me.

I'm hosting a site on Yahoo! and it's fine, it's very easy to navigate. I don't love using a yahoo! template though, it was fine for my first sites but now I'm getting the hang of it and don't need templates anymore.

GoDaddy has been great for me, had hosting with them for 3 years now. Little bit confusing site to do all the administration, but once you get things set up you don't really need to dive in there often at all, and billing has always been totally straightforward.

i have been using ixwebhosting for a while now and quite happy. their service is quick and stable and the offering is well priced for what you get, though it is a little more then you're $2/month setups

godaddy was the first site i used for my personal web experience, definately cheap and easy to maintain with pretty solid customer service, but once i got into web design i found a few more choices that could benefit you

mediatemple is what we recommend first and foremost to all our clients, extremely reliable, great customer service, fast, never down, and lots of options for expansion

rackspace has been a choice for a few of my own clients too and i found while their customer service is good, there servers arent too great unless u want to pay more than the other sites

dreamhost.com, especially if you know how to code. I've been with them for 2 1/2 years now. Unlimited storage, bandwidth, domains, and subdomains. Ruby, subversion, ssh/sftp, automatic integration with google apps (cause I love gmail). http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting.html

use Bluehost if you need the latest PHP and other techs installed on the server.
