Another one of those witch skis threads

Im up for a new pair of skis this year and i was guessing that the Afterbangs would be alright and besides they are easy to get. But on the other hand i was looking into some harder to get skis (i live in ontario) like bluehouse and moment. Ive read tons of great stuff about moment and bluehouse and would love to own a pair from either company.
So my question is, are the afterbang's any good at all? I know they have been known to be a bit slow but do they ski well? The reason im even considering these overhyped skis is because they are relatively cheap and most other good companies arnt available in ontario.

So, easy-to-get/inexpensive Afterbangs or more expensive bluehouse or moment skis that would be quite hard to get. Worth it?

In my experience, you get what you pay for.

I don't see Afterbangs being any more exciting than the noodled pieces of plastic they called Invaders, but I know a lot of happy people shredding on some interesting stuff from Moment.  I would head in that direction.

fail. for all the hype afterbangs are getting, i have heard some good things from good sources. I know that ian compton says they are the best rail ski he has ever used, if thats any help. good luck

the afterbangs are replacing the invader in Line's lineup.
so don't expect anything more than a super noodly park ski. 
if you spend a significant time outside of the park, then take a look at a few different skis.
like the anthems, from Line.
or the moment Reno series.

I agree, stupid hype for a new way to lay down wood.... It is still a line jib ski, right?  Remember how the Anthems and Invaders were?(terrible, for those who don't know).

Reno Jibs or MRs both have lots of good reviews.  The other Moment I am intrested in is the Reno Freebird, depending on the mount, it could make a great park ski, especially on jumps/pipe.  They might have lots of Freebirds left when they actually put the 2010s on the sight, and you might be able to get them at a good price.

Afterbangs are NOT replacing invaders.  I do not know why everyone thinks this but it is not true.  The invader was a price point ski.  The new price point ski is the mastermind, which has a similar shape to the chronic and similar graphics to the 07 invaders.  The afterbang is simply a new ski, it is not replacing anything that Line previously made.

Alot of Ppl on NS are gonna be bias against invaders/afterbangs just because there super soft. There gonna say that there noodles and the wont hold you weight and theyl wash out on jumps. Well if you land centered you shouldnt have a problem with that. I personally love the invaders (i have em) and i will be buying the afterbangs.

my mistake.
but they are still pretty soft, like the invaders, and are definitely geared towards tons of park.  from what i heard, if you are looking for a ski that will hold up all mountain, get something stiffer.
unless you are super small....

im definitely not small but im 5'8 and only weigh 130 so i guess they would suit me.

also, anthems will not fare any better than the invaders in an all mountain setting. they have the same flex and flex pattern, its just wider. afterbangs have a much more consistent and manageable flex since they are designed to flex closer to the boot than the tips of the ski, making it a bit more stable.

agreed.  Sorry if I sounded harsh, because I was.  I keep correcting people and it gets annoying when kids make threads asking this. anyway.  Sorry for sounding harsh.  But anyway, if you want an all mountain ski, go with the chronic.  With your weight and height, you should be fine withe the afterbang.  Do not just get it because it is the new thing and cool, get it because you like the ski.  Try looking for a pair of left over invaders too.  I loved my invaders.

get the laroses or a pair of reno jibs
since youre a little on the lighter side (like myself) anything moment can be difficult, but still very manageable

Afterbangs ARE replacing the Invader as the sym. soft park ski skinnier than Anthems.  They are a bit wider than Invaders, but will be the same with the difference being butter zones moved in a few inches.  They also take the cheap price.

Masterminds are a cap construction, cheap, softer Chronic with 4mm added to the tip and tail to make it carve easier.

ABangs are much closer to Invaders than Masterminds are, which are about 115-85-112 and cap and w/o butter zones

I know they're sponsored and can't really say anything negative about them but every Line team rider I've talked to loves the Afterbangs. Even ones who didn't really like the invaders only had good things to say about the Afterbangs especially for smaller people. Apparently they aren't as noodley as the invaders and are more poppy.

i am pretty sure that they will live up to the hype.



and scott- line's flex pattern went invader, anthem, chronic.  they are definitely stiffer, and if simon was washing the balls out of his invaders, then a little stiffness would be super nice.
