alright is anyone out there? im headed to college here in the fall and have heard from students that sugarbush is about half an hour away. i want to figure out if i should get a season pass there or not...

i ski about 60% park, 20% bumps and glades, and 20% groomers and am wondering what they have to offer for terrain. or if anyone knows any other places close by with decent priced passes... ive heard stowe is good, but even the college pass is rediculous. or at least it was when i checked it out last year.

my little bro goes to UVM and he had quite the sweet pass last year im not sure what it was called but he had access to jay peak, bolton valley, and i think stowe and those are really awesome spots to shred in VT my person favorite is jay in VT they get alot of snow for the east coast, the face chutes are awesome their glades and bump runs are second to none in the east and their park was pretty decent last year, i hope that helps a little if you want more information on that pass or anything shoot me a message and ill get more info from him....

sugarbush is about 30 mins from norwich and its one of the places i personally ski at the most. the park is pretty decent but they have pretty good big mountain areas and a few glades. it has three different peaks: mt ellen, lincoln peak and castlerock peak. mt ellen is pretty much the other mountain but its easy to get to each with lifts, mt ellen usually has the better park. the all mountain pass is $319 for a college student.

sugarbush is pretty much the closest
killington would be about an hour and a half.

ill look into the sugarbush pass for sure then. and i like killington, but hate the crowds and how they run the resort (my brother worked there for three years. first as an instructor, then as a groomer and snowmaking in the beginning of the season. theyre going downhill really fast.)

ill probably buy the sugarbush pass and then make a few visits to some other places and just pay for day tickets. ill figure it out where the best place is in the 4+ years im at school.

First off, I am very sorry that you are going to norwich. It is a town of absolutely nothing and a school with the highest meathed/army concentration out of anywhere.

But... I grew up at sugarbush and it is ill. Lincoln peak (south) has a ton of ill woods and castle rock has some of the best on the east coast. Their park has its ups and downs. They have a ton of sick, big jib features. Their jumps do lack a lot though, badly miss-shaped.

overall a really fun mountain though

yeah, im going as a civilian there, and it is about the only small east coast architecture school. ill just have to escape and go skiing more than anyone there. maybe ill transfer. i love vermont though, so it should work out.

a) kind of sucks your going to norwich

b) the 20min shortcut is true

i. my cousin goes there and whips it to sugarbush as often as he can

c) mt ellen is the best peak and for the mt ellen only pass its like 30 bucks my cousin said

yeah having my own pass to Sugarbush I would say that would be the safest bet.  It's not too far of a drive, but you should consider heading up to Bolton for a couple night skiing sessions.  The mountain's not the biggest (more of a local old ski mountain feel), but going night skiing there is something else.  Also, if I remember correctly it's relatively cheap to go their just to ski at night.

yeah its my second year here. got a pass the sugarbush last year and again this year. went to bolton once last year for a night and had a good time. definitely a fun small mountain but sugarbush is the closest mountain and is larger anyway.
