Replying to Dislocated shoulder, 2nd time around

ok so I first dislocated it last august, when i fell skating.  yesterday i ate it longboarding and it popped out again, but i was able to put it back in myself.  ive got a couple questions for those of you who have done this before and done it multiple times
does the recovery time change after youve done it before?  will i still have to wait a month to do anything, because thats what the doctor told me last year
what are all your expirences with getting the surgery.  im sort of looking into it, but am really reluctant because i hate surgery.
if i dont get the surgery, will it still hurt as much every time i do it?
