im about 7-8 weeks post-op on my left shoulder, dislocated it skiing my first time and have done so about 30 times after that. sometimes it would dislocate when i would be sleeping with my arms out like a butterlfy. i decided it was time to get surgery becuase honestly i could not do anything i used to. basketball, cliffjumping, soccer, and of course skiing were all gone excpet for skiing which i took very easy. after surgery the doc said that my shoulder was pretty bad and that i even had some bone loss which he said "means it has a more likely chance to dislocate again." i was so worried because this injury was the worst thing that has ever happened to me.
i have been in physical therapy for about 4 weeks now and it is going GREAT!! i am still having some limited movement with it but every stretch i do it is feeling better and better. my therapist is the coolest dude ever and is fully commited into helping me get back to the things i love to do. the stretching and stregthening are pretty extensive but if you follow them and do them everyday you will see results when you wake up in the morning.
ive noticed that lots of people are having problems with shoulders like brett farve and creighton, its the worst thing ever but having surgery was the best thing ive ever done because it feels so much more stable.
im just extremely happy with the way things are going now because i can get back to the way things used to be in a couple months
