South America is not in Regionals......

Searchbar.... yeah yeah yeah....... I'm asking anyways.....

Work is sending me to Sau Paulo, Brazil from Sep 1st-4th.  I am planning on blowing some cash (I don't have much) and skiing in Chile from Aug 27th-31st.  I literally know NOTHING about the region and need some help.

Where should I go?  Where should I stay?  Any tips would be greatly appreciated.  I would love to be able to show up and use my Bent Chetlers.  ++Karma for any help and I'll buy beers when I get to South America for any locals who can point me in the right direction.  Much appreciated!

if you're looking to ski on the cheap, you need to check out Argentina, instead of Chile.  Not that chile is not sweet skiing, but it's about comparable to skiing in the states money wise., whereas Arg, is pretty cheap for food, booze, and lodging.

Most of those guys rent apartments for the season and offer up beds/couches/floors to sleep on.

^ Cerro Catedral , Bariloche. def not the sickest skiing, but easy to get to. lots of lodging options, and plenty of partying.

So I looked into flights and it looks like its gotta be Santiago....  Where is the best place to ski nearby?

This is an excellent point, we should have a south america regional forum. So I moved it here in the hopes that that happens.

I don't know if Ryan Mckeeman comes on here anymore but he would be a good person to ask about this stuff, he has spent some time shredding south america and found a ton of good spots.

Since this has been moved to "Site Discussion" I doubt I'll get any help.  The more I look online, it looks like I should go to Valle Nevado or Portillo.  Yes?  No?  Maybe?

there are some hostels in farolones, I'm pretty sure that's the cheapest place to stay and ski the areas outside santiago (valle nevado, la parva, and el colorado) you can buy a ticket to each place individually or one that gets you all three, but skiing from mountain to mountain is not the easiest. I've heard about a hostel in santiago that runs a shuttle up to the hill everday if they have enough ppl. but i don't know that much about it.
