Rumors are starting to circulate about Tom riding for Scott skis. The truth is that Tom is now riding for Burton. The reason to him riding Scott skis is that Burton and Scott have had a long term company relationship. To keep the "hype" down to a minimum, Scott offered up their graphics to conceal the fact that he is indeed riding the first ever Burton prototype skis. Tom has been reported saying,

"I'm stoked to be riding for this great company (Burton)! I know how much they've supported and done for snowboarding and I can imagine that they will do the same for skiing."

The new Burton skis called the, hyphy sticks (a working title), are due to be on display at SIA 2010 in Boulder, Co.

How old are you? No matter what a "core" company or a "rider company" says they are and are not its all about money. It's a business. Skiing itself is a business. Why do you think their are professional athletes? To get the company MONEY because kids like yourself and myself will see professionals ride them and be like oh they are sick! Everything in this world is a business.

Partially true... Amplid couldn't hold up to what Burton could offer... Tom is still in full support of Amplid and what they're doing though.

this actually could be quite plausible because, on one of the windell's videos, tom wallisch was saying how he wanted snowboarding and skiing to be more integrated and such.

Has everyone already forgotten how anti skier burton is in general? The dropping of all skiers from anon, the poaching contest, anti skier ad campaigns? It would make no sense for them to move into the skiing market as they are so well known as an antiskier company. No fucking way this is true.

To try to keep this thread as clear as possible, Burton did the poach contest as an effort to move skiing and snowboarding closer together as ever before... in a way that is as commerciable as possible. Burton is in no way against skiing at all as Jake Burton said,

"Snowboarding without skiing whould not be where it is at today and in the same tone, skiing would not be where it is at today without snowboarding. We are one in the same. There's no sense in trying to segregate people who love the same thing and that is snow."

Maybe I was a little vague with the "business" comment, OBVIOUSLY ski companies are businesses!! Any organisation where money comes in and goes out is a fuckin business. My point is - Burton sold out snowboarding for as much cash as they could simply because they could. They became all about shares and dominating the market. I know it could potentially bring skiing a lot of money but I still never want to see this. Ive never been influenced by who rides what or other people think is "cool". Lets try keep skiing individual!

The US Department of Commerce has just granted Burton a monopoly over ALL snowsports. Therefore, as of next season, all skiers will be riding the new Burton skis, Burton boots and Burton poles
