I didnt film all of it, but i did the editing. I tried to keep it clean, and not "over-edit" the movie.

it deffinitly got better as it went on. the begining was a little shakey and it didnt really have a good vibe to it. but towards the end i was gettin into it.

I like the overall simplicity of the editing, definitely fits the song. some of the cuts are off by a frame or two. One thing I've said countless times in critiquing ski stuff, or any action sport really, is to stop panning once the skier had landed. there's nothing left to see after the trick has been landed, and if you let the skier ride out of the frame it's much easier to cut, and looks better imo. good stuff though man, got me stoked since it's been so long since I've skied.

i kinda liked it, i think a couple more "artsy/filler" shots would have been a little better, and the triple front sequence is soooo played out,
other than that though i dug it

overall editing was well done.  some of the shots you could've gone without.  and it defenitely flowed a looooot better starting about halfway through.  i like it man.  work on the filming for sure.  i liked the frontflip line.  that was sick.

minor but make sure shots line up
he took a drink in his bed
put it down on the table
put on a shirt
the next clip is him walking out of the room with the drink in his hand
the previous clip he was walking out without it in his hand
otherwise both edits were nice IMO

Re: first one - Agreed that it didn't have a great vibe for me, though it definitely improved with time. camera was far too shakey (maybe consider building a simple dolly to start). I don't really know much about moving pictures, but contrast, saturation, etc. weren't there for me. Could also have had more flow (combination of some bigger/smoother skiing as well as tweaks to editing). The song worked, though I wouldn't have chosen it (purely personal preference). It was pretty good though, and you guys can definitely throw down. I also felt like the end scene, with the elbow, was unnecessary. If you really wanted to show it, I'd have made it much shorter, maybe given it some context (how'd it happen? why is he in a house? was he even skiing when he did it?). Maybe toss it in the middle as well; the whole bails reel, 'what we do is dangerous and we're tough' thing at the end of sports edits/films is sooooooooooo played in my mind. I think it should be more integrated (also gives a better idea of what it's actually like - i.e. you don't stomp endlessly, you ski hard, crash and stomp all together: show that). btw, what did happen?. it looked messed.

Re second one: I liked it a lot better. The can thing aside, the only thing I really noticed was the camera movement on the dock. I would have put the camera on land, set it, and locked up the tripod, started recording, stood back and let him run into the frame. At the beginning I was like "sweet, another lifestyle intro, the athletes alarm goes off, he brushes his teeth, looking super rough, etc.", but I actually thought it was pretty original and enjoyable. Well done.

As I said, I didnt do much filming in the first edit, and I actually hate to give the camera to someone that barrely knows how to push the "rec"-button.. And the elbow-part.. It doesent make much sense if you dont understand norwegian, hehe. But thanks for taking the time to give me some feedback!


Btw. Sorry for my english, Its not my first language=)

no problem. and I mean, I'm not an authority on film stuff, but I know a bit about aesthetics, presentation, photography and stuff. I forgot that there was speaking during the elbow scene. I just kind of tuned out the words cause i didn't understand, haha.

i thought it was pretty sick. i liked how you didnt want to over edit it but sometimes that kind of edit can be fun

for the song, though, i thought it was well done fsho. i enjoyed it

oh yeah and filming was really nice which is really key in edits to me

It was pretty good filming was a little shaky though. definitely invest in a tripod it pays off even though they're a pain in the ass to lug around all the time. the good thing though is that you can jut leave it running there and just watch to make sure it doesn't fall over once you get the setup right. Oh and buy a good one there's nothing worse than a crappy tripod. THe skiing was alright lots of missed grabs though. Its also cool to switch up the kind of shots you get. follow cams are sick but only when they're done right. and personally I think everything looks way better if you're going faster. Especially rails. Also, I'm not really into the whole super smooth baggy style anymore but it's important to be able to actually rock your style all the time. All your riders seemed to be into smoothness which is fine but some of the weren't that smooth. But idk it wasn't a bad edit definitely better than most. Keep it up keep doing it thats the only real way to get better.

Like with the filming, don't always follow the skiier, let the skiier ski out of the frame.

also, try unique angles, dont film from the same spot all the time.  also, a tripod or steadypod or something like that would make all the difference

don't watch my movies lol cause they're not that great, but trust me, I work at a film studio so i know what's up.
