skiing would be 10x larger if Johnny fucking Tsunami didnt ruin everything and subconsciencely embed in the minds of all non snow loving people that skiers are "skye's" and snowboarding is the new sweet thing....i will forever hate this dam movie

who cares how large skiing is i kind of like that it's small it's a good community you know, what other sport do pros and um, non pros communicate as much as skiing

yea freeride skiing being small is sweet and all kids but when you move to florida or california and tell people your from colorado and a skier, either they think in the back of their heads your a skye type racing homo, or they straight up ask why you dont snowboard. No one knows we exist outside of our little bubble of newschoolers and our small ski communities. i try to explain that i do rails and jumps and shit like pro's do in the xgames, and they reply they didnt even know skiing like that was in the winter xgames.

if skiing was larger there would be much more money in the sport, and we wouldnt have to start sacrificing comps because no one has the money to put them on anymore. think about it. put that in your pipe and smoke it

but i still like how it is right now. but i hate when people that dont ski or snowboard say skiings gay and how snowboarding the cool. *i might have worded that wrong but what ever*

I live in CA and when I tell people I ski I rarely get people say stuff like: "Oh so you wear spandex."  Usually people ask if I do jumps and rails and I say: "yes."  It depends on where you are.  If I were in Moab, UT, people might think skiing is only racing, if I were in Truckee people would ask if I hit jumps or raced.

Definitely! Look what happened to snowboarding. Like many of us I boarded first but I went out to CA and was actually embarrassed by the scene over there. Kids with thousands of dollars worth of minted gear sitting about in the park all day never takin hits cause theyre fucking terrible. All of this just so they can be "extreme!!"

mehhh i like skiing being a smaller sport, i dont really want it to end up like snowboarding. that being said im not on a level where i could make any money from the sport so for the people at the top it must be really frusterating having to deal with how little exposure they get.

This is so true. I was doing a portfolio for a class on Freestyle skiing, and my friend said that snowboarding is much cooler because Johnny Tsunami snowboarded.  He is not a snow loving person.

i snowboard and i cant find a better community that ns on the internet. of course my mountian is my own community cuz i know everyone there and am friends with all the employees and were all like a big family and all the boarders are friends with the skiiers. to the kid who said snowboarders are urchins and shouldnt ride the same snow as skiiers. suck my balls. were not stuck up at all and most of us dont snowboard because we think its cooler than skiing. i started before i knew was was and wsnt cool and i look up to good skiiers just as much as i do boarders.

i think skiing fine where it is at.of course freeskiing will expand cux companies want to make more money. we cant really blame snowboarding for freeskiing not being as popular cux alot of freeskiing has been inspired by snowboarding. tanner hall seen people snowboarding and said i should be able to do the same things on skis. telling people in florida that u ski wont expand the sport cux they probably do not have a interest in skiing, it is like asking people in whistler if they know what  cricket is, that is my rant about this topic enjoy
