you don't need 2 season passes. Here's a better budget breakdown for you:
300- alpine meadows season pass, if you buy early enough
400- skis and bindings. this is 800 split over two years, seeing as you don't need new gear each year.
500- good boots, bought at end of season. you don't need new boots for 5 years. so really, only 100 per season.
75- good enough pants. also, you don't need new ones each year, so that's 150 split among two years.
100- jacket, bought cheap. you can find deals, and you can call this a two year split if you want.
90- helmet. you don't need a new one every year, or every three years. unless your head grows exponentially
90- goggles. also don't need new ones each year. get over yourself, trendwhore.
80- gloves. you don't need new ones each year. if they break, get some duct tape.
this totals out to $1635 per season, if you buy new boots each year. I'm not counting gas, that's something completely unrelated, and it depends on where you ski. Hotels are for softies. Sleep in your car, or poach the base lodge. It has been done by others, it can be done by you. Or, considering you probably travel with the rentals, then you shouldn't have to worry about lodging. Don't pay to be on some fucking expensive team, just ski with some buddies. you'll have more fun, porgress more, and you won't be broke.
It sounds harsh, but your budget is much higher than it needs to be. I'm not bashing you for it (actually I guess I am, but don't be offended) It is nice to be able to afford all of that, but you won't die without a ski valet, either.
