Girlfriend Dillemma

So this girl, we are a thing but arent dating yet. We hang out a ton and we are pretty much perfect for eachother. I am planning on asking her out soon, but i am leaving for africa in 6 days, for 19 days, so should i wait till after, or do it before? She already told me that she would never cheat on me becuase she has had guys cheat on her, and she doesnt want to do the same, so i dont have to worry about that. I think that if i do it before, the first 3 weeks of our relationship will absolutely suck, but if i do it after, she might move on before then? But i am pretty sure she wants to have a long term relationship. NS, what do you think i should do?

i would say ask her after. if she really likes you then she will wait for you until you get back. I know cell phones and other countries don't work too well but if you can then just text her or call her while your on the trip just to keep in touch.

if you forsee a long term relationship with her, then you'd better be capable of spending 3 weeks apart. Don't be a fool; just ask her out now, because if you're already a 'thing' as you put it, then she probably wants you to ask her. Make sure you pee in her butt as well. It seems to be the hot thing to do on newschoolers.

that could actually affect something.

your gone for 19 days. during the summer. if she likes to party A LOT then chances might be that she goes to a party while your gone. Gets drunk and possibly hooks up with another guy. Now most likely the hook-up wouldnt mean anything do to the alcohol but still would suck balls

She is at a party right now though. And i have talked to her friends and they said that she can control her self pretty well (haha contradicting) when she is drunk and that she hasnt really hooked up with guys before while she was drunk. And if she was drunk and hooked up with another guy, would i have a right to be mad at her, or no?

you would have the right to be mad, but if you werent going out you technically wouldnt although id still get mad if she isnt your gf it isn't cheating.

Basically your best chance is to ask her out before your trip, that way if she does get drunk at the party her and her friends know the consequences if she does hook up with a guy and you have a right to be totally pissed and be a dick to her if she does.

So i think if you asked her out before would be the best way. IMO

Don't necessarily ask her out, but talk to her about it. Tell her that you like her a lot, plan on asking her out either before or after the trip and see which one she would prefer.

i feel your pain man, my girlfriend goes to Portugal every summer for 2 months.. Not  the same situation but it fucking blows. and yeah i agree with the guy who said tell her your feelings, say you want to be more than just friends but want to wait until you get back before you start anything.

I have a couple things to say.  First I don't know how old you are but I will never have a girlfriend in high school especially for my senior year.  Second check if your phone is international friendly.  If it is you can buy a calling card and you bill wont be retaredly expensive.  I havent read the whole thread so sorry if I said something that was already suggested.

i would suggest talking about it. together if she digs you she'll wanna be with you and that won't change much. i started dating my bf knowing he was supposed to leave to bc a month after we started dating for pretty much all winter.

FINAL VERDICT: i asked her what she would say if i asked her out. She said that she couldn't date someone in a different country, and that we would talk about it when i got home! thanks to everyone that helped

what i would have done is:
right before you leave, tell her,"i have something important to ask you when i get back."
and if she is really in to you, she will definitely wait, and she will probably know exactly what you are going to ask.  more than likely, she will be thinking about it the entire 19 days, and as soon as you get back, she will be all like, "what was it that you wanted to ask me?"


bam.  and you didn't even have to go to ladies men.
