no ducked ropes - its whistler bowl man, like the most popular run in North America

the Wide groomer called The Saddle is at the bottom of that cliff, where all the noobs get down from the peak.

there are runs that drop in all along the ridge.

Directly above the cliff where i fell is a permanently closed area. but they dont close off the lower part .

Well exactly, the first time i went to whistler 5 yrs ago, and the first run I took, I ended up there, and it scared the shit outta me.

So I kept going back.

Again and Again.


but i shouldnt admit that if i want a free pass

ok, the only detail youre missing is that the day i was skiing, the usual route to get into the bowl had a rope up, but only because it is a chute and there were rocks showing. Thats the reason it was closed, not becasue of the terrain it accessed. And there are other ways of getting there.

on a normal day that is all in bounds


i could try for a free pass.

it is whistler tho, and it is like 1800

i dont know if it could have gone any better though.

just inches off and i would have landed on my lower spine instead of my femur, etc etc

Being from Europe i kind of don't understand the point that you make. He skied that line (ducking a rope, which is unimportant, cause you didn't know.) and fell. His fault. He triggered an avalanche, his fault.

Why should he get anything from the resort? Because they didn't stop him making a mistake?
Would this mean if someone sells me a gun and i point it on lets say my foot and shoot myself i should get something because they didn't stop me making that mistake? Maybe thats a bad example, but I hope it explains the point i am trying to make.

Regarding the Alps, there are many cliffs like that which are exposed and if you fall you definiatly do not get anything. Even if you sued you wouldn't get anything.

I think it is a skiers responsibility to inform yourself about a line you ski before you do so. The resort is not your mummy basically!

This is spectacularly ignorant. I can think of literally DOZENS of places on W/B that are completely inbounds where a minor screw up will send you over a cliff big enough to easily kill you, all of them skiied not only by people who are good, but by just about everybody. You just have to be careful with what you're doing and know where shit is before you go into those areas.

Word. America is retarded. It sucks that he fell, but it's his fault entirely. Even if there is no rope, it's still the skier's fault if they hurt themselves. Just put up a sign that says, there may be unmarked obstacles, and you're completely free of liability.
