I really don't like that pro movies are double the price of AM movies. I think the average person would just be smart and buy maybe a slightly less banger movie but still amazing for half the price.

but i have only bought one movie ever which was realtime and I got it off ebay brand new for 13.99.

35 for pro is a reasonble price if u ask me. 25 tops for amateur. But seriously, id pay up to almost anything if it keeps the industry growing.

I mean, this year we lost Mystic Land Prod, Theory 3 and no more tanner hall movie. Snowboarders still have a freakin ton of movies to choose from.

i want to support the industry as much as possible, but find that to be really hard to do when i need more skis more than i need to watch other people ski, ya know? its a tough one because i don't want to loose any more companies or film crews. one thing i would like to see is more ski movies on itunes. this would cut down on the companies cost for dvds and packaging, plus most people should be watching ski movies on their computers anyway because its better quality than an HD tv anyway. final verdict:
30 for pro dvd
20-25 for pro on itunes (if it is released when the dvd is)
15-20 am dvd
10-15 am itunes

I pay 40 for pro movies, although I think they should be like 29, I pay 20 for an am movie like stept or 4bi9

id say the ability to sell a DVD with swag can really help a company charge more (bigger profit) and fairly get away with it. Am movies have a harder time breaking even because they lack a bigger budget yet they sell for less which sucks for them. Therefore $20-$25 for an AM movie that comes with let's say , a shirt is more then a hell of a deal. Pro movies 30-35 $ based on swag and content

I've only supported 4bi9, cause 4bi9 is badass. Every pro movie I own I have just stolen off of torrents and burned to a DVD.

Amateur: $20, but for 4bi9 and Stept I'd pay $25-$30. They're shit is just as entertaining as pros.

maybe I will... free for everyone except for you. As a side note, alert me to the nearest ski movie that cost 4 million dollars to produce and then we'll compare apples to apples.

These free offerings are a current trend in many facets of cinematogrophy. it's absolutely doable.

P.S. All or most of the sponsor money pays for all or most of the production cost up to and including filming, travelling, events, disc media, box etc...at that point the cut of the total sales price the film company makes is their profit/loss. Increase the total volume of viewers and you could potentially (in a different macroeconomic market) more money from endorsements in a myriad of ways. Sponsor paid short edits, hard good products, events etc... the potential of myfriendisapro.com is a perfect example of this.

Clearly I am not 100% serious, I know exactly the issues at hand. I was just making a comment that there are other possibilities outside of the box. Certain free magazines make lots of money...it's not too far off of that.

the only movie i thought was worth the 30 $ was believe.

and i dont see how they "just get by" selling them at 30 dollars along with the sponsors. its their job,

they have to make a profit to survive. which is understandable but dont make it seem like we are

doing them the favor. we are paying for them to ski and shoot for a living

20 pro free for am, i never buy ski movies cuz i never have 40 dollars to drop for an hour of entertainment.
maybe they should just make all movies downloadable in a slightly lower quality than dvds so they can save money on packaging and shipping. every teaser is amazing but its never been more than just a tease cuz i cant buy them ha. fml.

I don't mind paying 30 dollars for a professional ski movie and somewhere between 20-25 for an am movie. I understand how hard it is to make money in this business and the effort it takes to but a banger movie together, so I really don't mind spending a little cash on a good ski flick. I have around 40 in my collection, and I will continue to purchase them.

am: $5-15 irrelevant of format, depends on the trailer and all.

explain to me why it is reasonable to charge $30 for a ski movie, when the shit hollywood makes is like $20 when it comes out and quickly drops down to 10-15, and that stuff is way more bad ass.
I don't care from the production side of things, its the consumers who determine the price. So why are you all willing to pay way more for a ski movie then for a blockbuster or major movie?

every year kids line up and get 3+ movies, some get 5 or 6. once you pay to ship the fuckers, (which always seems to take like 2 months with poorboyz) your out $100-$200. Thats a lot of money. I would rather spend that skiing myself, rather then watching someone else ski.

Major flaw in that thinking is how much more volume a Hollywood movie sells.  People also pay $10 to see a Hollywood movie in a theater considering where I sit at home and the setup I have by the time I watch a ski movie three times(aka two days) I have basically gotten the theater experience three times by the time I have watched the movie a bunch of times and let other people enjoy it I don't feel super ripped off or anything by $30.00 for a pro movie.

That said pro movies are about at my max I would pay right now unless the swag that came with them started to get a lot cooler than a beanie or cotton T.  Am movies really vary a lot in quality and therefore it really depends what they are worth to me.  Slamina was damn near as good as some pro movies last year so obviously I would pay more for a company that has riders or past performances that let me know that is gonna be good.  I paid $8 for an am movie that was made by people in MN that I know from skiing and that was about right for that style of movie as well.  I actually would have paid more for that movie but only because it had some epically funny crashes from my brother in it but that is a whole nother story.

Berman said that each year they produce about 20,000 copies of level 1's newest feature. Lets say the average movie goes out for about 27 dollars, then level one stands to make 540,000 dollars in overall sales. Lets subtract $50,000 for camera equiptment, $100,000 for travel expenses, $50,000 for skiers, $100,000 for salaries, $30,000 for dvd costs, and $50,000 for miscellaneous expenses. That leaves $160,000 dollars left over right?? Haha I know my calculations are way off, there's no way JB makes that much but he did say himself that they produce 20,000 dvd's.

wtf man.. you wont pay for pro movies because their over priced but yet you will pay 25 for an am? thats only like a 3 dollar difference.  I'm sure that has nothing to do with the fact that your part of an am production.   I can't believe how cheap every body is. support the fucken industy. if it wasn't for production companys like poorboyz and level one you guys would be off racing in tight pants or snowboarding... Sorry i dont like to hate on ns but what i've seen in this thread makes me sick

under like 20 or around 20 for am tops.

I'd rather see very nice editing, good flow and overall a very fun to watch movie than constant massive tricks. Tricks are good, but everything has to look well filmed and edited, it increses the value of the movie.

Free is also good, i've watched all the hunting yetis and TCs so many times, they are enjoyable to watch.

Volume has nothing to do with price. If Hollywood could sell dvd's for $30 they would. The only reason that ski dvd's cost $30 is because people are willing to pay it. If the most kids were willing to pay for a ski movie was $20, the price of ski movies would be around $20.
