Hiking to Park at Timberline Right now ??

say i didn't want to pay $52 a day to hike the park.
how long would it take to hike up to the park from the parking lot?
i feel a little hike is worth saving the money from that bitch move of a lift ticket.

Dont do it. You could have last summer. They are really crackin down this summer. Ive seen so many people hiking up to ski the park. Then patrol comes in and turns them around. Save money for just a ticket. Its worth it.

 they have loss prevention hiking up an down the park all day since they moved it under the pipe, theres almost no chance of not gettin caught

crap i just read that the park is moved on aug 10 th,, is this not a good time to come out

what is the hiking situation,, they still charge you when you have to hike back to the lift thats kinda crap

yeah honestly it kinda bullshit how expensive it is, considering now that u have to hike back down to the lift to even lap... but yeah they are checking very well now so good luck hiking and not getting caught!!!!!

hopefuilly they change their prices...

You guys complain about ticket prices, but do you realize how many hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars are spent by the T-Line in order to build and maintain their park throughout the summer? It's not like the snow is playing nice to the park crew, it is melting fast out here; the jumps and pipe pretty much have to be seriously repaired everyday. You can't expect to get everything for free in this world. It would be nice for people to quit bitching about having to pay money for a lift ticket and appreciate the fact that there is a resort that is dedicated enough to operate in these tough times and provide a means for us to keep progressing our skiing throughout the summer.

The hiking deal has always been a tough one. I'd like to think that I can hike anywhere I want and ride down, and that's true. We just don't want people sessioning the park. If we catch you hiking up we will probably approach you and ask you to leave. If you have  a poor attitude about it that is when it can get expensive for you.

It's also important to remember that lift tickets are our main revenue maker here, so even though you may not be using the lift that much it's the only way we can pay park crew, ski patrol, cat drivers, cat leases, diesel fuel, salt expenses... and the list goes on. All the things that you have to have to build and maintain a park.

We are defineately aware that 52 bucks does not work for the majority of people that want to just ride park. We are looking at ways to midigate this for next summer. Maybe a public only park pass or Mile only pass. So hopefully that will be a good solution for all you guys.

To help us price that appropriately we need to know how many skier visits the average customer wants. So let me know how many times you would come ride during a summer. Be realistic. 10 days of riding during 2 summer months is actually quite a bit of time up here.

And remember no one likes kicking hikers out. I hate telling someone they can't enjoy our snow, but the business has gotten so tight lately that basically if you can not prove that your department is making the company a certain amount of money than you will be removed. Which means no more parks for anyone. Sad but true its' all about the money.

It just sucks that we have to hike the park and pay 52 dollars to do it.  It sends our 4 day trip to a 2 day trip, and puts a downer on things.  I mean I'm just stoked to ski, and i think when the trip is all payed for it's completely worth it, but at the same time my friends won't like it.  It shortens our trip, and will make a lot of people bail.  I don't know if it necessarily is a good business choice.  I think the magic mile or park passes need to be made in to a reality.

Thanks Logan - We can always count on Timberline to keep it classy even if it disappoints us hiking delinquents.  As a local (I live closer to the mountain than Windell's), you are right that 10 days in a summer would actually be quite a bit.  I did the math on a summer pass and I would have to commit to riding nearly every weekend day to make it pay off, particularly since you guys were so generous with the Fusion passes starting on September 15 and going until June 14.  If there are something like 12 - 14 weekends in the summer season, I would think ideally I would ride once a week.  Given that shit happens, I think roughly 10 days is probably a good estimate, unless I manage to take a week of vacation and ride, in which case I would add another 5.

I think one idea to consider seriously is a cheap hiking pass for the park, something like $10 per day.  I think most hikers would go ahead and pay that amount.  This summer I haven't been up to the park at all (out of deference for your efforts to crack down on the poaching) so it is not a question of me paying for a lift ticket.  I either hike or I don't go.  My not being there is a lost revenue opportunity.  $10 or nothing sounds like an easy business decision for Timby.

wow aint local dident know the scene I like pub park the camp parks are realy sick but guese you cant get around these guys totaly nailed me in the rails today W T F look up dudes standing there says hey man hows it going . no ticket no rails fucking snipes well geuss ill go home T Line used to be easy to get arround now theyre all over the damn hill kinda sucks but I do understand it every ones trying to get by these days arent we all   ????

Just got back from Hood.  It was super fun.  Hiking really isn't that bad, and the rails and jump were really fun.  I still think they should change the prices for park hikers next year though.  It changed the amount of people that went and how many days we skied.

the hiker's pass for 10 dollars sounds like such a good idea, i would definitely be glad to pay 10 dollars to hike up to the rails and still enjoy then snow than knowing i payeed 52 dollars for the same exact purpose pretty much.

when i was there i regretted it a bit all day because i only went up the lift twice even when i could just ski down it was just faster hiking.
