Those would be sweet for a place like Baker. 1140 inches of snow requires a ski that big. Such a sick west coast ski.

why is this thread called Prophets vs nothing? just wondering.

and you guys are kinda missing the point of the prophets. 'where the hell would you find snow so deep that you need a ski thats 130mm wide?' you wouldnt. the prophet wasnt made because Pollard NEEDED a ski that wide to ski some really deep pow. line made it to push the limits of ski design, much like what volant did with McConkey's spatula idea. its all progression. true, pretty much everyone on this site wouldnt even be able to begin to put them to good use. thats why they're not mass producing them and selling them to the public. what some of you guys are saying right now is pretty much the same thing that people were saying when shaped skis came out. its all about pushing the sport to new limits.

The Idea behind the prophets is to get the floatation of a snowboard, The Prophets are 130mm in the waist which is 13cm, a snowboard thats fairly wide is around 26cm in the waste, and you have two skis and one snowboard. That equals the surface are of a snowboard, and a little more cause skis are longer and the sidecut of four edges instead of two.
I think the idea is feasable, just not to the majority of skiers. I think they should sell some to the public though, cause i would like to try them, and im sure many others would too.

Well, not everyone wants to sink in powder, Pollard doesnt. He wants to have the floatation of a snowboard, without having to snowboard. Saying skiings not about that is like saying to an alpine race snowboarder'If you want to race, race on skis, snowboardings not about racing'

CalgaryJibber 2.4 centimeters not that much difference? hahah are you serious. then basically you're saying theres not much difference between a general groomer carving ski and the Seth Pistols. 2.4 cm width is a HUGE difference. if the ski is 185 cm long then thats an added 444 cm squared of surface area per ski.

thats exactly where their not going into production. Pollard needed a ski to really pull out his full potential ANYWHERE he went. Gotta give Line credit for stepping up and building him the ski he wanted. Look at 4frnt, Stenbentz started that because Fischer wouldnt make the ski he wanted, same with Steele and Atomic. Even though nobody (myself included) on this site would ever put these things to use, its a good thing they exist just for the hell of it.

The prophets are so sick, I was able to ski on them during the intermountain demo for shops. They took so much work to turn,they just wanted to go staright. but surprisingly they are pretty nimble. they harldy turn. They only time anybody woud need this ski if they wanted to ski in norway, so they could ski down to the fjords and then waterski to another location.

teh prophets are nothing. db ski out of switzerlant or something has soemthing called the Tablarasa that is 148 in the tip and has a swallowtail. carbon fiber core too. really spendy, like$900

you guys are ill informed. go to biglines.com and watch the LINE segment of video for the vagas ski show thing. the guy says that the ski is going into production, just that its going to be in VERY limited quantities, so im sure if you really want a pair then you can get one, but your going to be looking for a while.
