Looking to move to Banff

So I kinda want to move to Banff. I want to move to Whistler but with the Olympics it is proving difficult.

Anyway, I live in Mammoth Lakes, CA and have been working at ski resorts the last 8 seasons. This would make season 9. Anyway, I worked at one of the best ranked ski shops in the US last winter and they love me and already said they would give me any recommendation I need.

So now all I need to know is what ski shops in Banff are fantastic shops that I can look at applying to.

Also, if anyone knows a good classified page for Banff. I searched, but getting info from locals is so much easier.

Mountain Magic, Rude Boys, and Unlimited are pretty much the most baller shops. You also might want to look at shops in Canmore. Shops like Coulour, Vertical Addiction, and the Source. If your into new school stores, look into working at Fresh in Calgary. Of course there are all the shops at the hill as well.

Canwest ski association, the Banff Crag and Canyon news paper, and job bank Canada. Those are all great places to look.

All great places to shop for clothing and accessories, but only one is a ski shop. If you dont mind working in a not-so-newschool ski shop Monods pays really well. You would also work 10 hour days, and only work 4 days a week, if that matters too you. Banff springs Ski Shop, is mostly a rental shop, but believe it or not might be one of the most progressive shops in town.

Other similar shops include GS, Coast Mountain Sports, Banff Mountain Wear, Helly Hansen Store and the Ski Stop. None of these are really "newschool" shops, and I couldnt comment on how any of them would be to work for.

There seriously aren't any ski shops in Banff worth working. Monads is probably
Rude Boys won't really hire anyone that just pops in looking for a job. They recently hired their first skier, only because he is a really rad skateboarder. Unltd won't hire skiers, they don't sell skis anymore. Mountain Magic is a super sketchy business, a bunch of my friends had pay withheld for a few weeks for no reason.

My current shop is offering me a 40% raise and a 40% discount if I stay in Mammoth another season. So confused right now, but I am still checking other places out.

I really appreciate the info.

what maximumsushi said there are literally no legit ski stores in banff.  they all fucking suck its so brutal. Like the only legit store would be mountain magic sports and it does infact hold back money and not pay you so fuck working there.  Maybe try not working in retail for a season? 

I would say stay in mammoth but banff is seriously lacking in girl skiers so you should definately come up here.

YEAH^^^.....Sunshine is looking for park crew next season....and if you can ride/are a girl your pretty much in. If you can rake a jump, even better.

Matty, I think I might try to work park crew next year a few days per week.

If you are a hot skier girl, you should just forget about Mammoth and shred with soup and I. We're rad.

Job market is looking a lot better right now than it was earlier this summer!

for anyone looking to move here:  there are atleast 40 ads in the paper for rooms/apartments for rent and most businesses are hiring as a lot of staff have peaced out and gone back to school (suckers). 

now is definately the time dont hold off and just get out here.
