Galv flu

yea I got fucked up a few years ago welding a drag out of glav pipe. about 2 hrs of welding in a single bay garage w/o vents. Felt like I got hit by a truck. hang in there man

you do realize welding galvanized shit is like the worst thing you could do for yourself right?

my dad informed me of this the day after, he didnt know that I planned to make a drag, and I didnt have a clue what galvanized steel even was let alone know that it was dangerous.

yeah,  you can kill yourself.  if you feel really sick dude go to the hospital.

can someone explain why welding galv. metal can hurt/kill you.

Galvanized metal is treated metal.  it's dipped in hot zinc, and when it's burned  it's bad for you.  it's about as simple as that.

the reason things are galvanized is to prevent rust.

It's not worth welding that stuff. Even if you find a great piece to use, don't use it.
If you really have to, make sure it's outside with a huge fan blowing at you.

though you may have done a lot of research on the internet, I dare you to find someone who welds a lot to go and weld zinc without an oxygen source.  or some serious ventilation.

So I was wrong,  it won't kill you.  but really, why go and get sick for 2 days?  Just don't bother with it.

I mean it could be argued that after doing butt-hash you pretty much go back to normal, but why inhale butt hash?

I looked into it, and apparently there aren't any long-term effects (contrary to what I've been told)
The gas is creates is basically the zinc stuff you put on your nose.

we were making a dryslope kicker frame, so galvanized metal so it didnt kill someone, but we were outdoors in the carpark. still fucked me and another guy up for a day or two
