Ethics of contest-swaying

Who else here doesn't really give a fuck when people ask for votes in a contest? It makes sense when it somehow relates to skiing or newschoolers in general, but when the only connection is that the contestant or their friend happens to be a member, what does it really accomplish? Unless I really think they should win, I don't vote. Especially for contests involving awards or career opportunities, I am highly apathetic at  best. Someone will still win the contest without NS and it will likely be the more qualified contestant. Do some of you actually feel you are doing the world a service when you vote?

When you are bored online, might as well be nice and try to help someone else. If you think it's a waste of time, then why are you on NS in the first place?

But by being nice to one person, you are hurting someone else, how do you know who deserves it more?

It doesn't matter if it isn't skiing related as long as its in NSG. and why not if its gonna help an nser out

internet contests are always swayed, i figure i may as well sway it for someone on NS, especially if they are asking for it, and even more especially if they deserve the vote. it usually only takes a minute or two anyways, it's no biggie.
