water ramp?

who knows what the material that they use on water ramps is? that rubber looking stuff that you slide down on? it looks like it has holes in it. im thinking about making a water ramp at the lake on my grandpas property up in steamboat this summer, any help would be great.

I'm not sure if you know this already, but there is a full water ramp facility in steamboat. It has 4 jumps, one of which is 16 feet wide made to be a terrain park-style jump, not an aerial jump, which launches you 60-80 feet.

Can anybody think of a way to set up a water ramp into an ocean? Cause Id pay for the fucking thing no problem, I just have the problem that I'd sink, and/or my skis would sink, and I dont want to have to buy new water ramp skis every jump that they pop off on. Thoughts?

its weird, its like plastic rings that are all connected with little bristle kinda things stickin up all ove, i donno where u would get it, but u might be able to try other stuff, like do skis slide on tarp? just try different stuff

Haha the salt actually makes no difference...but I'm thinking because you cant swim with skis on and the ocean is much deeper than a pool. Strin is a good plan I guess, unless the skis smack me upside the head somehow.

unless ur skis release in the air they shouldnt hit u in the head, and about sinking, wear a life jacket, o and cant u somehow get access to the whistler water ramps

Yes, I could, but I live on an ocean. Which means I have 2 1/2 hours of driving, pay for the usage priveliges, and wait in a line, or a 52 second walk for a private ramp. Hmmm...

Nah not quite... I have a cabin that I use there once in a while in the winter. But I live in Vancouver.

is there seriously a water ramp place in steamboat?!?!?! if this is true, then is it open to the public. what would i be looking at paying to use them? holy crap, if thats true it'll make my day.

as for the sinking problem yes use a life jacket. that is what you have to do at the water ramps in park city. oh and don't use your normal boots. the liners will get totaly fucked. go buy some old rental boots or something. the shells aren't affected so all you need are liners.

the one in steamboat requires a 45 dollar entry fee to the local sports club there. You also have to be a member of ussa. After that, it's open to the public, skiers and snowboarders. The ramps use a plastic that is brand new and on no other ramps. It allows you to carve any way. Also because it is 16 ft. wide, switch takeoffs are no prob.

The economic way to make your own ramp serface is to use those plastic milk crates. You can cut them up and lay em' out and you will be glidin in no time.

yea, go to the website, sorry dont know what it is. but the fee is like 50 bucks and it lasts for a year, you'll need it to do a lot of competitions anyway.
