Obama is a lieing sack of shit.

Yay for political threads. Ha just kidding, lets honestly not put too much politics in this thread and stick with facts. Here goes.

Obama made a a whole bunch of really important promises that got him elected. Only problem is he isn't really keeping to his word. How does the rest of NS feel about this?

Take for example gay rights and the military. Obama made the promise to end Don't Ask Don't Tell which won him probably millions of votes and he's yet to do anything about it. He says he still has to convince people to go with the change but he's Commander in Chief and could choose to end the enforcement of it but chooses not to.

He also promised to stop raids on the Medical Marijuana dispensaries which happened for a little bit but they're back at it prosecuting innocent people in the eyes of the state.

There's more but those are two big ones stuck in my head.

This video sums up a lot of my feelings towards Barry right now.

but on another topic. im not going to debate his lying sack of shit ness, he definitely has fallen through on a lot of promises.


however, think about all the shit going on right now, are fringe social issues like dont ask dont tell, or marijuanna legalization going to be his top priority? i doubt it.

i also wouldnt be suprised if he made more progress with those kind of things if he gets reelected, since then he doesnt have to worry about alienating the religious dumbfucks that hate gays, or morons who think weed is the root of all evil.

Huh, It didn't put up anything I had past the video.

Anyway. How are people reacting to some of this? Do you guys think these are just issues that aren't important enough to do anything about or is Obama turning in to every politician who just does what people tell him to do?

Personally, I feel at least on the Don't Ask Don't Tell thing, that he's giving the run around to the gay community. If he really wanted to he could end it in a day, Obama just chooses not to.

I wasn't talking about legalization at all. That's another thing he lied about. He said in his campaign he would listen to the American people and if they wanted it, he would at least put it up for debate. Well essentially he just laughed it off even though it was the number one question for his 1st town hall meeting.

But he promised that he wouldn't let the DEA raid anymore stores that were abiding by state regulation and completely pulled a 180 on that decision.

And I really don't feel Don't Ask Don't Tell is a fringe social issue. Obama said it himself that 75% of America agrees that it should be taken away. And he literally could at least stop the enforcement of it, but he's chosen not to.

Again, you aren't even listening. I'm not asking him to fix shit. I'm asking him to keep his fucking promises for once. Don't Ask Don't Tell could be repealed with a signature. And the raids on Cannabis Clubs could be stopped with a phonecall. I'm really not asking for much here.

But do you realize what Obama HAS gotten done? Think about it. There's so many big issues going on right now (economy, healthcare, green energy/climate change, etc.), that you can't possibly expect him to attack the smaller and fringe issues until later. He's only been in office for 6 months!

How? He's the Commander in Chief of the military. The military have a socially unjust rule. He can decide to not have the rule anymore. Simple.

And back to the cannabis clubs. I'm not asking for legalization. I'm asking for him to get his attorney general back in line. Even the AG said that he would abide by Obama's promise to end raids. And they did for a while and now they're just starting all of a sudden. Someone had to give a new order.

As someone who's livelyhood and wellbeing is dependent on Obama keeping his promises on some things, I can say I am thoroughly pissed the fuck off at Obama and at a crises as to where the fuck I'm supposed to go. Can't be in the military, can't marry, can't even donate blood for christ's sake, and now the Obama administration has the nerve to go back on its promises? mmm. No thanks. I'm moving to Sweden once I get the fucking money.

I'm liberal, but I guess I'm a Liberal Republican now, 'cause the government has done nothing but fuck with me for a long ass time.

wtf? he's been in office for six months! do you really expect change to happen overnight?! he's working on the big issues that affect every single american everyday. tell me exactly what is wrong (and i don't want to hear about the national debt, because that's obvious) with tackling the huge issues first -- that most americans are worried about -- and then working on the smaller ones.

I'm a huge liberal (albeit an independent one) but I could go on for days about this but my favorite was his promise not to hire lobbyist and so far he's done practically nothing but that. 

Here's a great example of him promising to not raise taxes on the middle class (which is the majority of NS) and not to use presidential signees.



and here's two good videos on what you were talking about with the medical marijuana raids and legalization.  Too bad he contradicts himself in the fact that it is estimated that legalization would generate about 77 billion dollars annually.  That's the amount Madoff swindled off his investors and over a 10th of the stimulus bill.  We could be working to bay back the stimulus bill with a medical drug tax rather than an increase in the "work for 3 months out of the year just to pay a federal tax" tax.

i am not very educated in this subject, but from what i know it seems like you are correct about this sure.
Everyone is like "this is going to change our whole life" but in actuality he has done nothing or little for us yet. Hopefully things will turn around.

ya I don't smoke either and I thought he was being incredibly cocky and just unprofessional when I saw that. It's nice to know that he dismisses the most popular question that the people (btw this is a democracy!) voted for by claiming that he doesn't think it's a good strategy. Would it have been to much to ask to tell us why he thought it wasn't a good strategy?

well to be fair this is leveled at the Bush admin also... the debt is A HUGE ONE. the others are the nationalization of our financial sector, and auto sector... dont even get me started on him not raising taxes on the middle class (for which i believe my family would benefit) cap and trade, opps i mean cap and tax. would hit EVERY american with higher energy costs, and these costs come from prodding hand of the government, therefore Obama is taxing all Americans...

o yeah the sin taxes are a fucking joke...

Are you serious about cap and trade?

Most states are already a part of some form of cap and trade system that is set to be or already implemented. The Western Climate Initiative involves the Western United States and much of Canada as well as a handful of Mexican States. The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative involves the Northeast and part of eastern Canada. Have you heard anything about taxes increasing from those initiatives? No, this is just typical political jockeying.

Obama admitted himself if you look it up, the price of energy WILL go up. now its not going up because of scarcity (to a point yes) the reason the price of energy will go up is these companies are now going to square in the cross hairs of a tax. but energy companies dont pay taxes, their customers pay their taxes in the form of higher energy costs...

But which objective, nonpartisan studies show that? Because I've heard smaller amounts in the range of a nickel or a dime a day in terms of energy cost increases.

In fact, the Wall Street Journal (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124588837560750781.html) is reporting that the Congressional Budget Office has estimated the amount to be closer to $175/year by 2020.

And in regards to "not following your friends up north," the Western Climate Initiative (WCI) was started by American states Washington, Oregon and California. And the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative was originally proposed by the state of New York. So it wasn't the Canadians' idea at all.

Stopping something like raids on medical marijuana dispensaries that follow all the laws they are supposed to shouldn't be that difficult or daunting of a task.  By allowing the FBI to get away with this is proposterous and is denying people from getting their medicine, which many people legitimately need as a medicine, not just as a form of entertainment when they're bored.  Not only that, but it shows how little of a backbone he has.  "I'll just let this issue slide by so I can keep my good ratings and support from E! TV.  Now, lets turn our focus on being better fathers!"

I agree. He really has a lot on his plate. The gays will have their shot eventually. They are just upset there issue is not at the forefront.


I can see him taking on these issues around 2012 to make sure he gets votes. Or whenever the economy gets a lot better.


His lies are not limited to shallow campaign promises. Before the stimulus bill was passed, Obama had a meeting with the president of Caterpillar. The president of CAT said if a responsible stimulus package was passed and the economy improves, he would hire new workers. Comrade Obama went out the next day and said that if the stimulus bill was passed, CAT would hire new workers. Blatant lie. Since then, with the economy worsening, CAT has laid off more workers. Its obvious the stimulus plan was not responsible (anyone with common sense can agree adding that much money to our debt was not responsible), and that Obama disregarded what the CAT guy said, only to proclaim the things that made the stimulus package look good.

If anything, Obama has shown himself to be a Republican in Democrat's clothing. At least with Bush we knew that everything he said was bullshit. This guy was supposed to change that. Also, republicans and Conservatives especially ain't doin shit right now to help anyone out, so we're all to blame in this fucked-upness that is the Government.

Also, as for gay issues, we're not pissed because they're not at the forefront. We're pissed 'cause he had the chance and backed out of his promise to repeal DADT and support unions. So far, he hasn't kept any of his promises on that front, and has broken far more in every other arena. THAT's what pisses us off.

I forgot to post this one.

Obama said that he would not tax anyone earning $250,000 annually. He is pushing for cap and trade to be passed, which is essentially a large tax for EVERYONE, costing every family between $1200 and $3200 a year. The Congressional Budget office said this was stupid, but the house passed it anyways. This will tax everyone, and it will kill jobs in this country. This is nothing but a tax and entitlement program under the lie that it is about global warming, and green jobs.

i got its gonna cost the average family about 6500 for five years i believe, its going to make the price of oil skyrocket, refineries in the us shutting down causing a loss of jobs, and alternative energy only accounts for 10% of the total energy in this country. its not the right time to pass it
