External Harddrive for my macbook pro

I want one and was wondering what people recommend. I was looking at a Western Digital my book with firewire. Anyone have one and know if it works properly with a macbook? Also, does anyone know if the new snow leopard update that will be coming out will affect the hard drives compatibility?
Is there a better one I should get? I am looking for 500gb-1tb with firewire for $150ish or less.
Sorry if this is a repeat I search barred this and couldnt find what I was looking for, and as for googling, I want some first hand thoughts. So, talking to actual people on here is what I want.

Yes get that one. WD is great and it will work perfectly with your MAC. good choice

Any External HDD will work fine. Get a Seagate or Western Digital drive though, Hitachi's suck. Just get the cheapest firewire drive available, size isn't really a problem and paying extra for a "faster" drive is really a waste of money because the firewire architecture limits speed more than the drive itself.

thats what I was hoping to hear. Thanks, Im going to read some reviews and probably end up with the WD with firewire.

Seagate FreeAgent

I got the 500GB one, and i couldnt be happier
ive dropped it several times, and its still in perfect shape

highly recommend it
