Help Save Big Sky Park!

alright before i post this, realize that I know it should be in regionals which it will be soon. I just figured that this is a pressing and important issue all the eyes on SG should see.

HELP SAVE BIG SKY PARK!
It has recently come to my attention through reliable sources that Big Sky, its employees and most importantly, the terrain park desperately need the community and it's support. Due to uncertainties surrounding the economy, Boyne has had to tighten down on budget which not only effects it's numerous other resorts, but us too here in Big Sky Montana.

The current proposal to maintain a low budget is to eliminate the Ambush park all together (including the superpipe). This would mean a smaller park restrained to only Swifty.

This threat is serious and needs much support, thought and effort to even begin to catch the ear of Boyne/Big Sky.

We need EVERYONE who loves Big Sky and their Park to stand up and make their voice heard.



Soon, a thoughtful and concerned letter will be written. At the bottom there will be room for signatures from each and everyone of you stressing the fact that if these cuts are made to the Park, all who sign will not be purchasing a Big Sky pass for the 09/10 season. This way Boyne and Big Sky will be able to fully realize what a negative impact no Terrain Park would have.

Keep your eyes peeled for a link to the letter or a date where the signing will occur. Thank you for the support.

thank you man. we are trying our hardest. MT NEEDS a legit park.

^^Ben. messaged Tanner and he said he was willing to help in any way possible. This is fantastic!! His support will be critical to our success. Still contemplating how exactly I can use his help though. Any ideas?

Wow! This is really turning out to have a force behind it.

This week ive gotten Alex and Gus involved. Collin said he'd be down to help out and Tim should be in as well. So Stoked. Lets Save our Park!

that is fucked, i heard rumors last season but having a park grants them alot of student passes every , every year so it would be fucking gay they did

If this thing turns into a big deal, lets make sure that we not only save the park, but make it better. (better jumps with better speed, rails that aren't so steep etc etc)

can we try and keep the "big sky is gay" lines to a minimum. who knows what they will read and what they wont, but lord knows informing them that "big sky is gay" is probably not going to help our cause...

tanner being the fist signature sounds like a good idea... maybe have a few ppl including tanner write a short paper or a paragraph (to the head honchos at BS)  concerning this issue/talking about the benefits of the park and why it is crucial to keep the park

i agree. with them, along with a signature a few words about how important park skiing is to the industry/youth market today i think would be effective

alright guys. got a meeting with a few of the park crew dudes later today. we will be there with some management discussing plans/ideas to change the minds of the men making this unfortunate decision.

Any helpful idea/topics to bring up?

axe the pipe. more dirt work? or move it to somewhere with more snow from the start (challenger perhaps?) and definitely mention how much of the industry today is newschool skiing and park riding by snowboarders, not in a threatening way, in a "this could benefit your pocketbook" way

Tell them that they'd save time and money by not having to build big piles to put the jumps on. Tell them to just build one or two BIG jumps with steep landings on a hill.

Yesterday I met with a few guys from Big Sky and we got alot out on the table. Talked about the idea of an online petition (which would be much easier than getting everyone to hand sign a paper). This would show just how much support there is backing us. Also, we tossed around ideas and topics that need to be addressed in the letter to the Mtn Manager/Boyne.

I got alot out of this meeting and will start to draft the letter & online petition later today.

Thoughts?

The jumps are too close to each other and have speed issues. Also, they're not very big.

best jumps ive ridden at least, but i dont have as much experience as you two. and they are stepovers. arent big mountains all step downs? (i hate stepdowns) i guess its an opinion thing lol

signed it, msu is one of my top choices to go to this year but if the only nearby legit park was gone, it'd be a much tougher decision. you could also propose making people buy a park pass ($25-50) to access the nicest, most expensive to upkeep park

not sure if it matters much but the freestyle coordinator for the PSIA Northern Rocky Mt division just left to work at Breck...kinda gay, I'm sure now I'll have to go to hood or breck to get my freestyle cert.

Nicholas Kallasmy brother will be going to MSU and when theres not fresh cold smoke i want something to do while im visiting. Park skiing is the forefront of the sport, big sky needs to keep their park.

It didnt cost me any money.

I was told that after you sign, it asks you to donate. This is unfortunate. After you sign, if this screen comes up, just ignore it and exit. Your signature will still be recorded.
