^^ this is true.

But as far as livability and access to all sorts of awesome outdoor stuff, Portland is hard to beat.  Great bars, restaurants, clean, walkable, safe, good public transit, best traffic I have ever seen in a city over 500,000, lots of great neighborhoods, hood is decent (nothing like access out of Denver/SLC/Vancouver/Seattle....but better than people give it credit for), great wine country, awesome beaches, super walkable downtown.  Just awesome. Seattle also kills it, but trafffic and a few other factors make it a bit more difficult to enjoy.  Portland just fucking kills it (it has its issues, too, but overall I love it here).
