How do you make turf faster?

posted in build a jib 101, diddnt get any answers

ok so i've used all types of soap(powder,liquid) but i think i could get more speed, (without pushing)

if it isnt already, try making your drop in more progressive so you dont just drop to flat

how about using some non plush carpet, it's usually pretty cheap and i would assume that without the long threads there should be a lower coefficient of friction... if u wanna keep the turf then how about waxing it? try using car wax with high level of carnuba wax. i say this because think of how slippery and smooth your car is after a good wax job... give em a try and lemme know how it turns out!

At the Jibyard, an indoor jib park in Ogden, UT, they use tire wet. Maybe give that a try.

If you can get a hold of it, putting plastic snow fence over the turf will help a lot.

The biodegreaser that I picked up at ace hardware works awesome.  I actually had to wash some of it off because it was too fast.  I'll figure out what the brand name is and post it.  Also I have read on other threads that http://www.snowgel.com/  works great.

Dish Soap is the easiest way

lots. in the past i have put wood down and orange fencing on top of a tiny little plastic skateboard ramp and had enough speed for my ten foot rail.

Soap.  Get like powder laundry detergent that's what we use.  Works pretty good.  I think you can also use dish soap.  Or get some of that orange fencing they use at construction site's and lay it on your drop in.

going to an ice rink doesn't that nearly that long. my closest rink while another is remodeling if about 15mins, home to full setup is under an hour, the same time it'd take me to get ready and be on the mountain, if not shorter.

dude, just save your cum for about 5 moths in a bucket, be sure to stir it so it doesnt harden, and then pour on the turf. its pretty simple

Lots of dry leaves works for me but i dont use on a dropin theyre on a hill.
Sorry if it dosent help but i think you should give soap a try.

Sounds like every trick in the book has been laid out for you.  If this isn't working for you; experiment.  Shit, try bacon grease or wesson oil.  You might come up with something that works better than anything we've tried.  Then, you can come back and share the love.

hows the transition on your drop in? That can affect the speed more than you would think. If its too steep to flat and you feel yourself losing spped you should try to make it more of a gradual decline.

Mellow the bends in the drop in and takeoff on yo setup - run your ski over the turf as if you were snapped in and try to spot where your skis flex, like where the dropin flattens out at the bottom. where your skis flex too much there will be a hell of a lot of drag on the tips. so i found the dropin needs to be super mellow and flow, cos when the ski flexes pressure is put on the tip and tail creating instantaneous, minute areas of intense friction on the tip and tail, which with all your wieght will "dig" into the turf and will slow you down shit loads. so the key to a successful dropin is try as best as possible to maximise the surface area of your skis riding on the bristles, so the ski won't sink and get bogged down!

Stuff works well but costs alot. Go and grab a bunch of dish soap and it will be alot faster.

all of you said the same thing, soap or construction fence. lol. i already use soap and water....... but since i see all your tiny dropins and long ass rails there was somthing wrong with mine....... i'll just use more soap

Snow fence works pretty well if you lay it over the turf.  I use it and it works great for my set up.
