Road Trip Pet Peeves

Everytime i go skiing it's a road trip (3 and a half hours) so i just smoke and talk to the driver about random  incoherent shit that goes from tangent to tangent to tangent.  good system.  But when i have to hitch a ride with people i don't really know, there are some things that are insignificant but annoy the hell out of me. 

1)  people sleeping the whole way there.  A quick 1/2 hour nap is cool but not the whole time.  Shotgun MUST STAY AWAKE.

2) people who forget a bandana on a wet windy day and use your backup you where planning on useing the second half of the day...goes for any accessory. 

3) people who take arguments too far.  Long road trips will have debates/discussions, about random shit, but when people take it too far and won't let it go, or attack someone personally, it just harshes everyones trip.

4) drivers who refuse to make stops.  Too many stops suck, but a  munchy/monster break or piss break is clutch every few hours or so.

we took my wrangler to Philadelphia to see the Dead play and my buddies were all cramped in the back and bitching the whole way, and we also where smoking a J while sitting in traffic and the jeep has zero tints so people were just watching us smoke the J it was pretty funny.

My add on.

Shotgun must have a working knowledge of all things music and must bring an ipod with said music in it. I feel it's shotgun's job to entertain the rest of the car with music that will be perfect for the setting.

no flowing air. just have something on. But if its too hot or too cold for everybody else, that sucks too (e.g. heat is on, but barely blowin, so front people are comfy, but back is freezing asses off. applicable to winter drivin).

people with headphones on.

watching movies. this is more towards parents who insist on having their little shits watching something, but also to people who just cannot be social in the slightest.

1) when people fake carsickness so they dont have to sit in the back.

2) people who refuse to stop at all even when everyone else is asking

3) people who eat  smelly foood in the car

4) people who cant sit in a car without watching some sort of screen

Definitely. If they fall asleep, put on Time by Pink Floyd at full volume and wait for the shit ton of alarm clocks. Did that to a buddy of mine passed out in the back, he jumped up so hard he hit the ceiling and knocked himself back to sleep.

Dude, you stop every hours or so for a 3 1/2 hour drive. That would piss me off so bad. I mean it bothers me when people never want to stop somewhere, its not like its a huge chunk out of your day. But when your on a roadtrip everyone wants to make good time.

when one of your dumbass friends decides its funny to bust ass every 6 minutes or even worse, when he doesn't take a shower before and smells like absolute shit and no matter how many fucking windows you roll down the car still stinks. it even makes it worse when he sits in the back with that stupid grin on his face the whole time.

when your cruise control breaks the day before and 18 hour road trip to Big White and you drive the whole way cause you love your 93 dodge caravan so much, and when people in the back seat grab onto the front seat to pull themselves forward then yell in your ear what they are trying to say. fucking bithc did that the whole way to big white for me "you should slow down, you should speed up, you should pass, dont pass now, dont tail gate etc etc"

But also, when people fall asleep it is just rude.  At leaste when its just one driver.  when driving from california to colorado we would sleep while the other would drive, but that was for maximum efficiency in getting to colorado.

People who argue excessively as well. 

Mainly the sleeping.  it is horrible.  if there is more than two people in the car it is alright, because then you have free hands to fuck with the sleeper.

Yeah, you need to ask permission to sleep when I'm driving.

Otherwise I've also been known to do the high-speed-two-lane-swerving-honking-screaming-"OH-SHIT!!!!" maneuver.

But when there is one chick in front and another in the back it pisses me off so bad when they think they are 50meters apart and decide its totally cool to yell shit to each other.

Also people who play shit music while shotgun and wont change it to what other people want.

well, this wasnt really my problem but last summer I was up at a friends cottage and was the deignated ride home for four of my buddies. Who are all pretty sizable guys. I dont have a car so I borrowed my parents..not my step=fathers subaru wagon, but my moms mini=cooper. Which is a dream to drive high on summer highways. Packing three of the boys in the back did not amuse them though, so I guess thats m dont: DONT show up with a ridiculously small car.

I hate people who sleep while on road trips. I drove myself and two friends to maine once from PA. This friend of mine actually laid across the tiny backseat in my Tacoma.(ext. cab)
I waited till he was asleep and got on an exit ramp............I damn near locked up the brakes on em. Kid hit the backs of our seats like a log, he literally flew off the seat he was sleeping on. he didn't sleep for the rest of the ride.


Sleepers and Shotgun riders who can't read a f-ing map. If your in shotgun you are the Navigator. Help me to figure out where we are so I don't have to try to kill us all by reading a map while driving.

and people who think its the funniest thing in the world to rip ass every 3 seconds... its digusting, and your making the whole car smell like dick

i dont like people that do really stupid shit like hang half their body out the window or the sunroof.... or throw trash out the windows, cause you can get tickets for that shit and its not cool(unless its at another car we know... we drove 2.5 hours to a rail jam once and the whole way there was the biggest car-to car food-fight ever, my friend ian missed the other guys with a strawberry milkshake, and hit the red truck all over his windshield it was ssoo funny)
