Replying to Question on IEEE 1394 ports

my dell e6400 has a 1394 port (which i think is 4 pin? cause im pretty sure the six pin is bigger and a different shape), if my camera has a 4 pin 1394 can i just get a 4 pin to 4 pin 1394 cable to transfer footage to be edited? i always thought 4 pin to 4 pin was just for camera to camera transfers, and just used the desktop at my house cause it has a 6 pin slot, but now im at school and wont have that to use. so would a 4 pin to 4 pin work? or are there better options with my dell?
